Besides being a historic location, the displays are very interesting and educational. There is an admission fee ($10 / person; but the staff actually gave us a Senior Pass for reduced rate without us even requesting it), but we were not disappointed.
During the day, we watched commercial aircraft and military helicopters over the bay and many ships in the bay; but it did quiet down at night, so it was all part of the interest of the place. The bay beach was a bit limited. We found the laundry facilities to be convenient (located in each bathhouse). Full RV hookups were very convenient, and tent spaces were provided with frost-free water.
Park shares site with Fort Miles, so the area has diverse curiosities. The beach is a bit of a walk from the campground, but there are paved trails.
Yes, we saw "wild" ponies -- actually they were a plentiful nuisance. Very convenient beach access. Facilities include restrooms, hot showers, fish cleaning station, and dish washing.
