Best to come either in the mornings or late afternoon. There are some places with shade, but the actual trail doesn't. There's a beautiful picnic area with tables and a pavilion as well. Also, there is a place to watch the resaca with a bench. Great place to watch birds! Don't forget to read the historical markers about the Mexican-American war; very interesting.
