Yet another hotel we visited in the south western US during our road trip with AC issues. I find it very hard to believe that cleaning crews do not notice very hot rooms. We did have to switch room and luckily they had another room after 15 minutes. At first they told us they did not have any additional rooms available and my family was looking at alternatives. During August when it is very hot outside, I do not want it to be just as hot inside the hotel room. The breakfast was great and my kids enjoyed swimming in the outdoor pool.
Great stop! This was a fun and quirkie place to visit. My 3 kids had fun too! If you didn't bring spray paint you might be able to find a can someone else left behind. No cost to get in and this is located off of route 40 and very convenient in Amarillo. We were here about 30 minutes, which included doing some spray paint. Great fun stop for all ages and family friendly too.
Clean, updated room and great location in the village. I can not imagine visiting the grand canyon south rim and not staying in the village. With a few stops it took us about an hour to get here from the entrance. I did feel the food in the food court was a bit over priced for the quality. Overall the staff was very friendly and helpful. The location is very convenient to the visitors center, market and other village items. I would recommend a small flash light due to parking issues, if you are walking from the main lodge to your room location at night it is dark. We did use our cell phones and were fine since we did have battery left in them.
We didn't go very far in due to the time of day we were near here and it would have been better if we had sneakers vs sports sandals. My kids loved it and was the hightlight of the trip. The road in, is gravel/dirt and there are a few signs. Once you get in the park area, it is hard to figure out where the trail is, but we asked others coming out and then noticed signs on a tree. Its about a 1/3 of a mile walk from the parking area. Overall beautiful area and fun time.
This was a stop during our road trip that my husband wanted to see. Personally, if it was me, I would have kept going after how expensive it is to get in and if you wanted to see the movie then an additional cost, which we choose not to do. It was a cool thing to see, but not worth the money for a family of 5. It does have a very small interactive display/museum before you go outside to give the crater, which during peak summer heat is hot, so ensure you have some water.
This was one of our hotels during our road trip and we stayed here for one night as a family of 5. I was not impressed with this hotel as our room didn't have a working AC and the front desk did have us try a trick to see if it would work, which leads me to believe they deal with this issue a lot. With 3 young kids after a long day of driving, this was a major inconvenience to switch rooms and with this being a newer hotel, I would not expect them to have AC issues.
For planning purposes add extra time as this is near the bottom of the canyon and yo will need to drive into the canyon to the show. The canyon is beautiful and the show has an amazing ending and musical and dancing was great. It was a bit dull during non musical portions and definitely went into more details on the characters lives then I expected. We brought out 3 kids with us (9, 8, 6) and they wanted to go after the first half, we did bribe them with the pints of ice cream they sell as a snack. The end of the show with fireworks and display was great.
I wish i did a bit more research and didn't choose this hotel chain location. We stayed here for 2 nights and upon checking in the first room smelled like a wet dog, they gave us another room with all kinds of stains on the rug finally the 3rd room was fine. The city was busy and we ended up at their airport location for our 3 night in town and that was a much better experience.
