This was a very pleasant stay during our tour. This was the most peaceful accommodation with a very charming proprietress. Our accommodations were comfortable, quiet, and private. There was a great Pub in Hawkesbury where we enjoyed dinner with cheerful locals. This was the most authentic experience of English hospitality.
The Tower of London was full of educational opportunities about Henry VIII and his many wives. The Crown Jewels were the primary reason for visiting but we were pleasantly surprised by the interesting historical items to view. The White Tower houses Armour of Kings past as well as weapons and other historical artifacts.
The palace has several different areas to view. The first is where Queen Victoria grew up and includes her dollhouse, cradle, paintings, and the story of how she and Albert fell in love. The jewels of Queen Victoria were on display during our visit which spoke of Albert's love for her. The state rooms of King William and Mary were interesting but not as much as the Queen Victoria Exhibit. The highlight of the visit for me was the Princess Diana dress exhibit.
This is the childhood home of Diana, Princess of Wales. The home is still home to her brother Charles, the 9th Earl Spencer. The inside tour shows off a stunning art display and rare glimpses into Diana's early life. The exterior grounds are well manicured and peaceful. The island where Diana is buried is serene and secluded in a way she was never allowed to have peace during her life. If you're a Diana fan this is a place you must visit.
This is by far the best place we stayed during our entire tour of England and Scotland.
We visited during pouring rain and extreme winds but the walk along the cliffs is beautiful. Wish we had been able to walk the full trail but the winds were too treacherous.
The castle was an interesting visit. From the top you can see for miles. It was pouring rain when we visited and the wind was harsh but we still enjoyed the visit. This is a must see.
The house provides rare glimpses of the Royal Families private life. There are pictures on display of the current royals and previous royals. The museum includes more pictures as well as automobiles and memorabilia. Beautiful gardens and lovely walks.
This is a lovely location to walk and enjoy nature in Scotland. You can walk down to the Loch and dip your toes in the water or walk to the top for stunning views.
There is so much more to see at Balmoral than just the castle. The Scotland lands surrounding the castle are beautiful. You can take a Range Rover ride around the grounds with a private guide. This was the best part of our English and Scottish Adventures. The guide provided insight to Scottish life, local plants, and the Queen.
