Close to all Dells activities, comfortable and clean. Staff was awesome, keeping everything running smoothly without being “in your face”. Pool and playground open but limited (didn’t use them), kids seemed to enjoy splash pad and pool. Delivery of ice and firewood was very considerate especially since grounds are on three levels. Sites are flat but very, very tight. Most are pull thrus (especially for big rigs). Some tent sites were noisy but quiet hours were enforced without incident. Price was high for amenities - no WiFi (advertised but non-existent even in office). Cable tv had 17 strange selection of channels. Water pressure and taste were good. Roads into and throughout grounds were tight, look at a map, don’t follow typical gps directions (lie train bridge -12 feet - and multiple roundabouts. Fine place if location is an issue.

Wanted a campground for our 40ft fiver while touring historical sites in nearby Springfield, IL. While realizing that it was still "off season", there was no reason for the unfriendly attitude at the reception/check in area. Large room but very few camp store items available. Signs abound for driving your rig through the roads, lots of switchbacks so make sure you read the signs - would be hard to figure out how to get where you are going if you got turned around! Pull-thru site was adequate - long enough but narrow, flat, gravel with very ruff (unmanicured) grass between sites - with almost no other rigs on the grounds, I was surprised that they put is right next to another large rig (actually was the camp host). The host kept driving around on the golf cart, stopping to tell us how to back in, how to put down our jacks, not to move the picnic table. When set up, we wanted a campfire and used some wood that we had brought with us. Knowing the usual rules were to NOT bring in wood, my husband went back to the campstore to buy some and the (unfriendly) person there said not to worry, we could burn our own. Obviously, that was wrong since the gestapo on the golf cart came back and insisted that she would have never said that. He was wrong. We avoided him for the rest of the weekend.
Laundry area was clean, there was a swimming pool but was a bit too cool to use (it wasn't clean) and there was a derelict mini-golf course that needed help. We tried to play using our own clubs and balls (again, lady in store said it was ok) but could only do a few holes that weren't damaged. Close to some Route 66 locations and a beautiful covered bridge in a nearby park. Also close to Springfield (about 20 minutes to downtown) but on a busy freeway access road. Noise wasn't a problem for us but could be for others. Lots of shaded sites that looked more promising that ours. Won't be back but you may find it OK.

Beautiful views, private access to Gulf but on riverfront as well. Sunsets can’t be beat! Common areas abound and lots of music activities right in the premises. That said, if you like “quiet” and privacy, this may not be the place for you. Sites are tight, music at night especially weekends can be loud and late. Owner lives on the premises. People are very friendly, many of whom have stayed at the Playa for years. Great spot if you like fishing or beach combing and close to many restaurants in Orange Beach or Gulf Shores. Florabama is within walking distance. Price is high for the few amenities it provides (no pool, no planned activities, sites are mostly sand and pavers) but within reason for the proximity to the beach without paying higher resort-style prices at other locations.

Large, flat sites-we even got a fhu site (50a/sewer/water)! Beautiful grounds with seven hiking trails, lots of people biking on the overs flat roads within the campground. Close to Charlestown for gas and groceries, 30 minutes to Louisville for derby, distilleries and horse farms! Bathrooms are unbelievably clean, sites are mowed regularly too. Big fire pits with grill grate in each site, good security. Picnic tables could use some updating-they are clean but the wooden seats are splintering. We like it so much we have booked another 14 days in August. We pull a 41ft fiver and fit just fine in site 188. No WiFi but use our ATT for a hot spot with no problem. Dozens of over the air tv channels inclosing all network and public channels. Very nice staff and guests were treated very nicely!
