Weather was against us or this spot could rate higher, 7 miles in on good road, tucked up against the rock formations. Exceptionally peaceful, nothing for miles around a wonderful place to sit out a storm, we will return in the future and make much more of the surrounding geography. Just a side note but it was the first time I have seen the vault toilets in a disgusting condition and I mean get the heck out bad.

We stay here at least one night every time we go through Borrego Springs, it is possibly one of ugliest pieces of land in the park, however it is safe, you have lots of room and the hikes in the hills are great and the sunsets wonderful. Some people seem to stay for extended periods, to each his own but for my sense of desert there has to at least be some vegetation around you, there are plenty of other wonderful spots in the Anza Borrego Desert. Stop in and try it for yourself, do a hike and sit and watch the sun go down, then you decide.

Probably not a long term option but a wonderful overnight stop. This was our first trip around the East side of the Salton Sea and found the trip interesting (Slab City) but a little depressing, however when we stopped at Salt Creek it had a tranquility that compelled us to stay the night and we're glad we did as the sky show that started at sunset was amazing. A great value for birders or photographers you will be sure to enjoy.

Nice little traditional side by side RV park, very friendly helpful staff, clean free showers & good laundry facility. The attraction here is its proximity to historic Mesilla with is charming tidy town. A leisurely stroll thru town and a bite at La Posta are a must, definitely walk from the RV park it's not that far. If you are looking for your next stop check out Aguirre Springs BLM ($7.00) the other side of Las Cruces and the mountains.

A very good state park lots of sites and options for views, we chose the Sonoran desert view and were very happy we did as the sunset was one of the best desert sunsets I've seen. We only had a chance to do the short Riparian walk but on future visits would set time aside for much more. Alamogordo has all the supplies and food outlets one could ever need. Highly advised is a side trip to Cloudcroft, the canyon up is a photographers dream and the little town worth a stroll, but the highlight was a BarBQ restaurant that is straight out of Texas, great food, great value and friendly people. The other tip is do not miss the White Sands National Monument, even if you just do the 40 minute drive in and out you will be amazed.

Located 30 minutes outside Yuma this stop could be easily overlooked, it shouldn't be, for one thing they seem to offer new guests an introductory rate of 3 nights for $39.00 all in. Seemingly on BLM land there are miles of trails created by ATVs however they make for a very extensive network of walking trails. Access to the waters of the Columbia river, a little beach and sunsets and night skies that are hard to beat make this a wonderful break from BoonDocking. Great pool, hot tub, 9 hole executive golf, pool tables and many more amenities. A well stocked reasonably priced store and friendly staff round out the experience.

The lake has a good feel, quite natural, marsh bird habitat but man made palm peninsulas for fishing. The fact that you are basically on a gravel road diminishes this site a little. Sunset and sunrise were both worth the visit. The road although washboard is not awful if you take it easy. The intermittent moments of peace make the odd passing vehicle worth tolerating.

A great way to get out of the RV city of Yuma if you've had enough of the commercial side of things. Or seemingly an oasis for fisherman or bird watchers. Quite friendly, a little busy but it seems in Snowbird season there would always be room for one more. Access is through the agricultural roads so can be a little rough but not horrible no services to speak of but there is a garbage bin. Simple, plain with lots of birds and you would never know you are in the middle of the desert.

Wonderful national park campground, no services except flush toilets & showers but they do separate Generator people from non generator, it was not busy so I made the mistake of thinking I could stop in the generator zone, my mistake. The night programs are usually quite special, this year it was early and they had not gotten their act together, both nights talks were weak with equipment failures plaguing both talks. All in all they do a good job the night skies alone are worth the price of admission, good walks and hikes surround the site and the visitor centre is first class.

A good state park setup, they could have given each site a little more room however each site has picnic table, fire pit, electric hook ups and water. Apparently very busy in season so there probably could be more sites. The cavern tours are well done and quite educational, this may or may not suit everyone, we thoroughly enjoyed it but reservations are a must as they book up. The circle walk trail into the hills is worth the effort and it circumnavigates the cave you will tour.
