The road in is blacktop and a little bumpy in a few spots, also, the campground roads are paved. There are 4 loops for campsites. I saw 2 "Host" sites that both had bagged ice and firewood. Nice and quiet and away from any highways. Pit toilets that were very clean and a couple of water spigots in each camp loop. Most sites are under a canopy of trees, so minimal or no solar. When I was there, there were a lot of open sites. Of course, this was the middle of Sept. I'm sure it is much busier in the summer.

Hiking trails, beach on Lake Michigan is all the more reason to visit.

Another very nice Federal Forest Campground. Blacktop roads into and the road in the campground is also blacktop. Pit toilets, but they were cleaned every day. Sites are gravel, but hard-packed, and mostly level. There was no camp host at the time, as I stayed in what would have been the Host's site. Not busy, but I was there in the middle of September.

Typical State Forest Campground. Many sites are Under The Canopy of trees, a few are open to the sky if you need solar. Most sites are nicely separated, but 19 and 20 are close if you want two sites together.

A very nice little Campground. Most of the sites are fairly level. There are fire rings at every site. No electricity, no water on site. Pit toilets at two locations, and drinking water at two locations. Water is from local town. No dumpsite.
Fishing on the Black Creek, but not suitable for swimming.

Beside the nightly camping fee you must have a Michigan recreation passport that can be purchased when checking in.

DNR ranger said at most camp is only about 50% full

There are 8 camp sites here. #1 is for tents only in the day use area. Some are on the smaller size, but #8 is big enough for just about anything you want. #8 is located before you enter the main campground. In the campground the road is narrow and sharp turns so it could be a problem for a larger unit. I stayed in site #2 with lots of room to maneuver. There is a pit toilet, and trash receptacles but nothing else is available. No drinking water, bring your own.

I was there in the middle of June. The biggest problem was there were a lot of ticks and flies at that time of year. You will need bug spray! and care for pets.

Camping was $10 a day, but the senior pass made it only $5 for me.

Stayed here in a 22 foot-long Trailer (RV). Just Me and the Dog would stay here again.
