We were pleasantly surprised to find some very ridable mountain bike trails here. More then enough room for other campers to have their space. Very friendly neighbors as well.

Beautiful views, cool weather helped keep the odor down. We checked out Salvation Mountain just south east of Salt Creek. We were on a mission to find BLM / free camping, but after seeing Slab City (with kids in tow) we wanted something a bit more established.
Every one we encountered was polite. There are portable toilets. There's actually a Kayak Camp, Coldwater Showers, potable water all over. Further North were more campsite options, but this was an excellent place for us to stop off.
Picnic Tables and Fire Pits were nice.

We love to boondock camp. I’ve been scoping this site for a long time. My wife and I wanted to go do some camping this weekend without the kids. So last weekend we scouted out the spot and just our half ton 2005 GMC sierra 2 Wheel Drive. We made it up and it was a challenge. It was thrilling to get there and our boys and I rode back down most of the way, before it got too dark. I think that this is a place where some parties happen. We saw lots of broken bottles. The views are amazing! It’s worth a tent trip if you had a group.

Our time here was quiet and we enjoyed the partial hook ups.
