Dispersed camping spots in the woods along the Big Lost River near the small town of Mackay, ID. Heavily used by local fishing guides (and they get early start). We based here for a week to fish the upper reaches of the Big Lost River and enjoy the small town vibe of Mackay. Good amount of shade. Mosquitoes not too bad. Outhouses on site. Good fishing access right at this location. Spectacular views of the mountains. Kinda tight getting in; best to scout on foot if you're a big rig.

Steep hill to get down in here; just take it easy. The spots are kinda clumped together so everyone is on top of each other. Very dusty area because of the silt. Outhouses on site. Right on the lake but was not a great spot.

This was a convenient set-up while we explored the surrounding area. Easy, flat and free. Close to Blanding, the near by town. Surprisingly clean for a gravel pit. Great ATT signal for wifi.

There are only a couple spots along this gravel road that is part of the Great Western Trail. We found the set-up easy, the locals friendly and the views spectacular. Some great recreation opportunities right out the door and with-in striking distance to Capitol Reef NP (20-30 min). ATT mobile service was good without a booster. If you set-up here in the fall, keep in mind some big storms can roll through here. We got blasted with snow for a couple days in October.

This site lies just across the Natl Forest boundary on Gold Basin Rd minutes from downtown Prescott. Very convenient, but the site is not very good and the dust dirt road is very busy. Everything quickly was covered in a layer of dust from the traffic (locals accessing popular trailheads). The space was not level (not even close) and required some jockeying to get set-up.

That said, it was easy to explore the Prescott area and run some errands. More than a few locals told us to post up in a few different areas next time for a better experience.

Not as busy or dusty as camping on near-by FR525 Road. More spots than you'd think. Some better than others. Not too much trash, but not clean. This is a very popular shooting area for locals. Don't be surprised if folks show up and set-up an impromptu pistol range right next to your spot (yes, this happened a couple times).

Just minutes from the entrance to Black Canyon of the Gunnison Natl Park, this BLM spot is right off a hairpin turn. Take care pulling in here and give the area a scout first. We witnessed a dozen RV's and even ORV's suffering damage due to careless driving. Not much flat ground, but we lucked out with a great site surrounded by juniper and pine. No facilities at all. ATT mobile service was not very good.

We set-up at this location to take care of chores and errands in Boulder City and Henderson. It's close to the highway, but surprisingly not too noisy at night. The road in is easy to navigate; just take it slow. Big flat spots to set-up. Sadly it's kinda trashy.

Pulled in for a quick overnighter before moving up to the reservoir next day. Good level site right above the river with table. Outhouses on site. Outlet of reservoir is short walk up river. Great fishing in evenings and morning.

We got a great site overlooking the reservoir with a table and shelter. Outhouses on site. Close to highway so there is noise. Reservoir shoreline can be muddy affecting where you can access the water. Great ATT cell service.
