We did great at site #4. (Would recommend #3 for big rigs as it is longer.) Be sure to walk the short trails both ways to see the amazing cypress trees! The RV and tents sites are AFTER the boat launch so you will hardly notice the activity. There is also train tracks about half a mile away but the trees are so thick you can barely notice it. Best experience would be to have a kayak/canoe as well!

Clean with a super friendly staff! The low noise score is just because of proximity to the interstate. Good WiFi here!

Our first time here. No reservations taken in the off season but plenty of availability!

Let's get the "bad" out of the way so you can know the great! Most sites are "pull thru" which is really just off the side of the park road. Not a favorite since vehicles are passing quite close to your rig. Also, cell service is nearly non-existent on AT&T.

Now the great...trails to your heart's content! 26.4 miles if you take all of them that encompass the lake! Bath houses are abundant and in good condition for state parks. We had a great site location with full hookups and personal deck overlooking the water. The lake is beautiful and we very much enjoyed seeing a bald eagle during our visit. (Gliding about a foot above the water!) This park is also in a great spot close to Downtown Tuscaloosa and University of Alabama.

Miles and miles of great trails and great views! The park is well maintained with paved roads and sites. No complaints here! Staff shout-out to Fred for being the awesome in the culture of this place!
1. If you like large birds, (hawks, owls, etc.) be sure to check out the nature center on your way up to Peavine Falls.
2. Be ready to climb in and out if you want to visit Peavine Falls! (65% grade!)
3. Fantastic fall colors and great lake access. (Be sure to walk the trail along the lake!)
4. Note the back gate closes at night and expect heavy local traffic if you use that access point during your stay.
5. Kings Chair Overlook is worth the hike! (Easiest to take the red trail first and connect to blue)
