I may have ended up in a different area than the other reviewers. We drove to the end of Lava Cast Forest Rd to find day use only.
We ended up camping at Forest Rd 9720 & 9721. This area has many burned trees and certain types of logging is permitted.
We did have a very quiet and peaceful stay close to Highway 97.

Breathtaking views, excellent camp site but should have paid closer attention to the reviews. An insect problem is stating it mildly. Beware, this is a lizard's paradise!!!! There are swarms of flying insects. If it wasn't for the bugs, we would definitely camp here again.

We camped here during the Thanksgiving Holiday. We were surprised at how full it was for a cold Holiday weekend. Everyone was very respectful. The site we stayed at had no hookups. We enjoyed exploring the old fort and lighthouse. We enjoyed watching the ferries as well.

We found this place by accident looking for dispersed camping. Absolutely a beautiful area. Would have loved to stay here longer and explore. We only got to stay one night.

There are many free campsites on this forest road. Unfortunately all were full with off roaders.
Dirt bikes, quads, jeeps etc. We were lucky to find this spot.
We are looking for more of a peaceful camping experience. It was surprisingly quiet at night.
All the passer by off roaders were respectful of our campsite and friendly.
Other than the dust and noise during the day it was a nice big site in a beautiful area.

Well maintained clean park with very friendly campgrounds hosts. We arrived at our reserved spot to find our site had been overrun by some very greedy tent campers. They even took the picnic table. After speaking with the Ranger we were able to relocate to another loop. Had this been the busy season this would have been a big issue.
After settling into our new spot we had an awesome time. We loved the beach access and proximity to Seaside and Tillamook.
I would not recommend this park in the busy season. It would be like camping at an apartment parking lot.

We arrived late and only stayed 1 night. Chose this spot so we wouldn't disturb other campers. Easy access for us since we have a 4WD camper, however may be difficult for other RV's.
