So this is an example of an old and tired hotel that tries to get it right the room was clean the carpets clean and the bathroom had a nice long counter - plenty of room for the two of us and our newfs. The staff was friendly and attentive. La Quinta’s are now charging pet fees and the policies vary, this one charged $20 for our two newfs.

Not more to add to the descriptions but I thought the house and other buildings were nicely described on the signage and house tour brochure

We had our two Newfs with us so they had a nice walk around the grounds and the pumpkin patch was set up (although only operating on weekends) so they enjoyed that as well

Also of note we went Oct 26 and they said they were open through Oct 31 but closed Mondays and Tuesdays

When you plug in the address in Waze it does not take you here if you use “Geographic center of the US” it properly directs you

The stop was kind of cool and was only a few minutes off our route. Unfortunately the registry in the chapel was missing

We’ve stayed at many La Quitas with our dogs and, for the most part, they’re actually better than most others in their class.

Then there’s this one. If you didn’t know the brand and stayed here first, you’d shun them the rest of your life.

There unforgivable problem is the lack of cleanliness. If the carpets are worn, faded, ripped, and STAINED, replace them! I don’t think that has been done since the 90s, if then. Let’s be clear: the carpets in the rooms and the furniture in the rooms are trash. Old, stained, tired, disgusting. Even the hallways seem to have been vacuumed sometime last month.

There’s no elevator in the lobby. Take the stairs (with your suitcase) or drive to “Door C”, where there is an elevator.

There are 3 ice machine, 1 for each floor. Two are dead and seem to have been so for a long time already.

We “upgraded” to a suite. It has a kitchenette. It DOESN’T have a sink (except the bathroom sink). What the actual hell?

Pet friendly is a technicality. Other La Quintas (almost *every*other* La Quinta!) has better grass access, better dog walks, Rapid City SD even has a doggie play area. This one is like trying to find grass for your puppy in a truck stop. They have space, they just don’t care.

Please stay at La Quintas but, for the love of God, don’t stay at this one.
