We went in the middle of July when the high temperatures were reported in the 90s. I was in a travel trailer with generators so I was able to stay cool during the day and the nighttime temperatures were tolerable at around 65°. This is not a regulated site and the trash bins were overloaded. There were only a few of us there but there were regular visits by tanker trucks to fill with water. There are barbecue stands but not actual sites for camping. We pretty much just parked. This is a hotspot for people with ATVs and motorbikes and on the day we left, it filled with people ready to do just that. According to one of the locals, he reports that these sites are completely packed during the spring and the fall when the temperatures are the nicest. There is one vault toilet. As previously mentioned the road to get to this site is extremely primitive, so I traversed it at around 25 to 30 mph with my small 3000 pound trailer. The hot spring flows into a small 3’ deep pool that is about 3’ by 8’ (I’m guessing) and about 100-104° that trickles into a large pond that was nice to swim and cool down. The base of the pond is thick with mud so don’t wear shoes you want to see again. Overall we had a very nice time, and on the last night we were there it began to pack with people due to the drizzling rain and cooler temperatures. Because of the excess noise and motorbikes, I did not give it a five star rating because it decreased our solitude. However, if you are into sites that accommodates, and are well known for, these types of OHV’s then this may be the place for you.

Very remote area with stunning views and fishing. The temperature in the summer is lovely and cool. Reservations are available and I wouldn’t chance it because the drive is extensive to have to turn around. The last 15 miles are dirt and somewhat one way so watch where you’re going. Trailers are limited to 25 feet and no hook ups.

The camp host is super friendly and he keeps the campground impeccable. Great camping.

This campsite had everything: Lynn was THE nicest camp host, clean bathrooms, a little store nearby and tons of WILDLIFE! We woke to deer slowly walking at the edges and listening to the coo of coyotes at night. We went 08/23 and the weather was perfect; chilly at night at 70° in the day. Not only is it a hop and a skip to the North Rim, it was also only 4 miles to a view of the East Rim and the Arizona trail.

Make a reservation about 2-3 months in advance as they book up fast.

Reminder: pets are welcome at DeMotte but NOT at the North Rim.

Lovely hidden secret in Southern Nevada. In the prime cooler months make sure you arrive early to scout a campsite. We arrived at 0800 on a Thursday morning and was able to get a full hook up in Atlatl. Stunning hikes and the campground is very quiet with very clean flushing toilets. I saw that there were showers but I stayed in my trailer.

I am from Las Vegas so those traveling from out of state should be warned that temperatures reach 100°+ in the summer and this renders hiking obsolete. April is the last comfortable month and October the first so plan accordingly. We went in March and it was already 78-80° by midday.

The petroglyphs and amazing rock formations are a must see, so try to make it to Valley Of Fire. I was on site 35 and it had spotty one bar service for AT&T.

I love this park. Nevada Means Home.
