Making a reservation was extremely difficult. Many times I got no answer. When I did make the reservation I never got an email notification so I had to call back to be sure it was good. Still no notification. I think it would be hard to get a spot so having reservations well ahead is a must. We called again and added a day and that was easy. When we arrived, check in was easy. The sites are level gravel/raked dirt. All sites are back in. The spots are close but I didn’t expect much in the city. The map makes it look close to the ocean but it would be a long walk I think. There is a pool, hot tub, restrooms, showers and laundry that are in good condition. Every site has a very heavy picnic table. The sewer drain was above the road so there was barely enough downhill to drain (I had to assist it). The location is close to everything Long Beach and Disneyland but we drove to Universal Studios as well from here. Their store is very lightly stocked and I found the office closed even during their advertised business hours. The area is very safe. Bus and train lines are within a mile walk (in a safe downtown area). AT&T has 4 bars. There is an AT&T wifi hotspot nearby but it was over trafficked, so I didn’t use it. Likewise, the camp wifi is good but unusably slow when many people get on it. Antenna reception is good for all major networks. They have cable but I couldn’t test it as my system doesn’t work. I found very few campgrounds in the LA area and this one served my needs nicely.

This is a great value for the overnight stay. Full hookups for $25! To check in you just find a site and call the number and a member of the park board or the manager will come and check you in. Finding the place is a bit difficult. The highway exit marker says County Fairgrounds and not Junior Fairgrounds so I missed the turn using Google. Once I took the correct turn the signage to the fairgrounds is difficult to pick out from a bunch of other signs. Once I made that turn, the signage to the campground is very good. The sites are all on top of a hill in a fairly flat grassy area (no trees). Each site has full hookups although it is hard to find some of the sewer pipes. I was able to find a site that was flat enough I did not have to unhook. Even on Memorial Day weekend there was no competition for best sites. I expect it could be more difficult during fair week. Cell signal is excellent. We got several channels on antenna. There are no amenities or interesting geography so it is best as an overnight spot or home base for visiting the area (we did not). No limit on length. It was raining so the dirt road got our RV very muddy.

We stayed here after all the other campgrounds in the area were closed. They offered electric only after October 31st. Normally there would be water as well. I did not see any dump site. The service was poor as there were no registration envelopes yet they expected you to fill one out. The building that looks like a manager house was not and I never saw the manager. The site was fine stone and was level. Power was on the wrong side but we reached. No other facilities that I could see. A neighbor told me they had loud Karaoke music two nights per week but not the ones we were there. Absolutely no cell phone signal or antenna reception in this deep valley. It is about a 10 minute drive to Dubuque. The sites were close but they had some of all lengths. Apple Maps took me to completely the wrong area. I would pick another place if I had a choice.

Making reservations by phone was easy. I found out that this is a new RV park and they didn’t consider themselves open yet. Still, they gave me my choice of spots. Check in was easy because they told me to just pick a spot and they would come to me. They started constructing this park in April 2023 and are not complete yet. The site was level (side to side) concrete with full hookups. No picnic table or fire pit yet but it appears like they plan to have these. No real amenities (nothing for kids, no shower/restroom). No cover in the camp as it is new but there is a nice woods with trails nearby. Antenna has good reception. No Wi-Fi (yet) but AT&T gets 3 bars. The camp is within an hour of Charlotte, NC and close to Kings Mountain.

The reservation was made through the website. It was a bit complicated but manageable. Unfortunately the receipt did not list the site number. I didn’t write it down as I made the reservation so I didn’t know where to go. There is no on-site manager. I called the city office and received help but if I had arrived after hours I would have been completely lost. The site I selected was riverside so had a nice view but was electric only. There are some full hookup sites but I’m sure they cost more. The park is beautiful. It has access to a wide spot in the river that looks like a lake. A lot of people took advantage and brought water toys. There are multiple children’s play areas. There is an extensive bike/horse/walking trail which is beautiful and mostly flat. The site was very level. There is no antenna reception. AT&T provided 2 bars but that was enough as it was 5G. There is decent spacing between sites. There is a dump station on site. Every site had a fire pit and picnic table and can accommodate any size rig but backing in is tricky at many sites due to trees and large rocks. It is a nice spot to spend a few days. Hutchinson is a walk or bike ride away yet it felt natural. The Twin Cities are an hour away.

This park was open when we couldn’t find anything in the Des Moines area. In fact, we were the only ones here on a Saturday night. This is likely because it is out of the way and there are no reservations. There is a self sign in board. You find a site and pay for what you get. There is a pull through site with electrical only. There were several water and electric sites but they were back in. The water and electric are at opposite ends so you will likely need an extension on one or the other. The site was level enough that I did not have to unhook. The place was crazy with flies but in early June they weren’t biting thank goodness. I did not see a dump station. Antenna got only 2 PBS stations. 2 bars LTE cell coverage but I could stream videos with this. No amenities beside the pool (I didn’t see it because I arrived at night). Best as a stopover spot. I felt it was very private. Houses are a block away. The restrooms are dated but clean. Not sure if it has hot water though.

This campground was celebrating their 100 year anniversary and it appears that their trees are 100 years tall and healthy. Very much shaded. In October you can easily find a spot and only self registration is allowed. There is water and dump station available as you arrive but not at the sites. The dump station costs $7 even if you camp there. 30 amp and 20 amp sites predominate. The sites are very soft gravel and fairly slanted so place all your chocks before unhitching. There is not much to do in or around the city but it is a good stop en route to Green Bay or Door County. Cellular coverage was good enough to stream and upload videos. All the television networks had good antenna reception. The park has many play areas for children.

I had a trailer problem and could not make it to my reservation. They refunded $51 and kept $25 of my reservation (that I had made only hours before they closed. I think it was right decent of them.
