We spent a week enjoying the peaceful park. Our site was level but only one bar of AT&T service and needed to use WeBoost.
We were close enough to Hernando to get shopping done but felt far enough away.

I would've given the area 5 stars, and we'd planned to stay here a total of 10 days but when the Alaska Railroad officer told me that this arwa isn't BLM land, railroad property everything changed. He said we need to leave by morning. (He did show me his badge) He said that he comes here regularly to evict campers. I suggested that a sign would be helpful as everyone that stayed here in the last week had found this location on Compendium and it's listed as BLM land and therefore open to camping. After he left I looked at BLM maps and this location is NOT BLM land. So, gotta go.

We arrived May 27, the first day of camping in the renovated campground. In the E section, the roads are paved and very wide, making it easy to get into the sites. Most of E is pull through. The only thing that I can complain about is the width of my site. The sites are concrete with bark chips in between the sites and if you have slides on both sides of your camper, you’ll be walking in the mulch as the pavement is about the same width of your camper with your slides out. There are a few double wide sites, but we didn’t get one and when we got a foot of snow on Memorial Day, it was a little sloppy walking around the rig.
Much to our surprise we have cell service, in fact, there’s service in most of the area between Fishing Bridge and Canyon; not enough to stream, but you can make calls, send texts and check your email. At least that’s the case with AT&T.
The building where you check in is also the laundry and has quite a few coin operated machines. And each person staying in the campground is entitled to one free shower per day in the same building.
