We hiked down to Craven House from Chatanooga Nat'l Park. The hike was worth it. A ranger suggested we NOT do the Craven House hike as shown, instead head toward Sunset Rock. About 1/2 mile in another trail intersects from the right - you can't miss it as there is a large sign with a map on it at this intersection. Head back down this trail that came in from the right. This is a little longer hike with the same elevation change but because it's over a longer distance the elevation change is more manageable. The house itself is closed but the views are amazing. The birdsong along the hike and the beautiful rock formaions make this hike all about the journey - not the destination. It was beautiful
Must be closed. Phone not working
Per google, the rooster has been moved to the original sculptures brother's Sculpture Garden at 522 North Main St., in Brundidge
Cute quick stop. Lots of details. BUT watch out for flying bugs in grass! Thousands and they will get in your hair, eyes, ears, mouth. Covered ur car. Had to pull away ND clean them all off. Maybe don't step in grass, which brings them out. Take pics from concrete. Ugh
So..... the owner is not at all helpful, it is difficult to find, the sites are very narrow BUT it has one very incredible redeeming value - and the reason I would go back there. It sits right on the turn in a beautiful little river that is filled with rocks and very shallow. Sooooo much fun to splash in. Next time we will get floaties before we get there and just float over the rocks for some mini white water rafting. We used as a jumping off spot for Asheville so didn't allow any time at the site other than sleeping, but next time in Asheville will stay here and spend time in the water. Most people there (VERY SMALL) are extremely friendly and live there full time.
