We stay at Birch Lake often. We really enjoy it. Lots of trees and access to the lake for boats, fishing, swimming, and campfires. Great location for a group of friends to meet up and camp together. Get your reservations early for holidays as they fill up fast. You must contact the campground or have access to their website prior to arriving for reservations as it is only for authorized users (military personnel and family members, retired military, etc).

This place is really great if you are participating in the seasonal Alaskan Salmon Dip-netting on the Kasilof River (Upper Cook Inlet). You can walk to the fishing area (100 yards at most) from your camper. The camper spots are close together but if you’re there for fishing, it’s better than nothing. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. There is a coffee stand on site. I would rate higher if they had sewer hookups. And they had clean bathrooms/showers, but the water did not get very hot. We ended up having to go to town several times to dump the black tank. I’m not sure on the power, my guess would be thet we only had 20Amps. Again, the staff was amazing…will be staying again soon because it was super convenient and because of the staff. Hope they continue to improve their campsites.

We stayed here a second time to try and get closer to our limit of salmon. We were very happy with our stay. We had electric and access to fill our onboard water tank, but no city hookup or sewer. Overall we were very pleased with the staff and though the campground was very busy the second night, we had no problems.

This spot offers a free dump and a water fill. It’s not the cleanest ever but it’s free. There are two spots to dump but only one is working. The fresh water fill is right above the non-working dump which is not ideal. Also unknown if potable, we just use it for toilets and wash water. We didn’t have a line but it was approaching midnight so your mileage may vary. Will use again…I hate paying for the dump.
Just finished dumping and the place was clean and free. What more can I ask? If I’m in the area, would go here again.
We needed a camp spot last minute and they were very accommodating. We got a pull through at short notice and our stay was great. I’ve attached a map of the campground.

This campground is basic. No hookups/dry camping. First come first served. Just pick your spot and fill out the tag. When the rangers come by, you can pay them directly cash or card. It was very chill…it’s a bit of a hike to the lake from the campsites, but the lake is great! Good fishing. You can rent canoes and life jackets and other stuff. It was like $20 for a RV and $15 for a tent. I guess the difference pays for the free dump station for the RVs. They give you the code for the dump when you pay to camp. Mosquitoes are crazy though…bring bug spray and coils and everything you can. Would camp here again though! Had a great time.

We stayed at Whitefish Campground. As stated there are two campgrounds. Nice and quiet. There are not hookups but there is a vault toilet. Water may be available at the pond campground. Nice, quiet family camping trip. No complaints. We only had two bars of 3G on Verizon that only seemed to work for analog/not data. But sometimes that’s ok. This app seems to think that only 4G and 5G exist.

We stayed 2 days here and it worked out fine. Dry camping. They have a dump that’s free for campers and a small fee for non-campers. We had a lot of gnats and a few mosquitoes. There was a fire pit and picnic table provided. Pay with credit/debit at a kiosk or use the envelopes provided. The lake is mostly for watercraft and not easily accessible from the shore…use the boat ramp.
