Had a 17' travel trailer. Came in via Carrizozo and Nogal. Turning off the road into campground is gravel and a bit rough. Went past Bonito Lake (it was empty). No problems getting around with the rig.

Our site was on the backside on a hill, closer to the bathroom (flush toilet, sinks, no shower). Good shade from pines, onsite grill and picnic table. One deer kept coming up to the site. Might have been fed from previous guest.

An unusual aspect was the parking. It was pull through, but set up for 2 campsites per. Our rig took up about 3/4 of the ramp. Since not too many people were at the campground, it didn't really matter.

Host was friendly, so were the people staying there.

I think it re-opened last year (2021). Obvious signs of previous forest fires. But sites are clean, no huge amounts of debris.

This campsite in the Wild Rivers Recreation Area (BLM) only has 3 sites and is at the top of the gorge, almost at the point of the confluence. It's where we cut our teeth spring time camping in New Mexico. Too awesome!

Tent camped here many times. No pads / hookups for an RV or trailer. Sites have metal shelters, a picnic table, and grill. Water spigot is close by. Pit toilets.

For animals, some evenings bighorn sheep will amble through, or a Mexican Jay will try to steal your dog's food.

Two things to be aware of:
1 - Watch where you put your feet and gear. Red ants are active.
2 - Wind can be an issue. I've put up breaks that have been shredded.

At night! The stars are phenomenal!!
