The sites are rather small and mostly muddy if it is wet. Lots of mosquitoes. The restroom was dated and not so clean. They have pit toilets right in the middle of the camping sites.
For the price plus reservation fee plus entrance fee I would go elsewhere.

Camped in the primitive section of the campground. Most of the sites had small half loop pull offs for the camper/ tow vehicle. Longer rigs might be an issue on some of these sites. Colter bay had a dump station and there is a nearby store and gas station. There were good views of the mountains after a short walk to the lake shore. Generator hours ran to 10 pm and many people were running that late.

This is a small campground that has a highway that wraps around it so there was plenty of highway noise. Many of the sites were far from level. Sites were closely spaced. When we were there in
March the campground was infested with Army caterpillars that got into everything. The park description mentions canoeing and kayaking but the only entry point to the river was a muddy bank. The park did have two very good hosts who met us as we pulled in. There was decent WiFi if your site was near the bathroom.

The back-in sites in the cottonwood campground are pretty tight. They just accommodated our truck camper. Anything bigger than a small pull behind or camper van should try and get a pull through site. While the space for your camping rig is small there is extra space on the site that has a picnic table and fire ring. The park lived up to expectations with a large bison herd right next to the campground and wild horses that walked through the morning we were there. There are lots of hiking opportunities in the park and we observed antelope, deer and coyotes in addition to the bison and wild horses. The town of Madera where the park is located has many entertainment options.

This is the best place to camp for access to the Indiana Dunes trails and beaches. The sites have concrete pads for the campers and additional paved area for any vehicles. They are pretty well spread out. The main restroom building was kept clean. They do charge an additional $12 entry fee on top of your camping fee. The sites have electricity. The campground was nearly full so expect lots of kids running around. It was plenty quiet at night.

This park is very popular so expect it to be at capacity. The sites have nice level concrete pads as well as an additional paved parking area. This sites are good sized and spaced apart fairly well. They do tack on a $12 fee for getting into the park in addition to the camping fee. All the sites have electric only that I saw. There are many trails to the dunes available right at the campground. It’s a pretty long walk/hike to the beach but a short drive.

Spent two days in the Blue Bell campground at Custer State Park. The sites were well spaced and the campground and facilities were very clean. Custer state park is very large and there are many things to do including wildlife viewing and some spectacular scenic drives. The state park roads are tight and twisty so that might be an issue for some large rv’s. Some roads are restricted to smaller vehicles because of low narrow tunnels. The blue bell campground was mostly electric only sites but there were some with full hook ups. One disadvantage of this campground is that the nearest dump station is on the other side of the park.

The campground is large with hundreds of sites. The back-in sites are tight and close together. The pull thru sites give you a much longer space with plenty of room for even big rigs but no more privacy between sites. The campground and restrooms/showers are well maintained. The best reason for coming here are the many things to do; boating, beach, ferry trips to two islands and proximity to Cedar point to name a few.

The Lake Carlos lower campground is located lakeside. The lake had a nice breeze coming off of it during our stay and that kept most of the bugs away. Facilities were well maintained and clean. There was good kayaking and fishing on the lake and they have a nice launch for boats. The sites weren’t big but had enough space for most rigs. The sites all had electric only. The camping fee is high when you add in the nightly charge, reservation fee and park entrance fee.

Stopped here for one night on the way south. There were only a few other campers and some full time occupants. Our electric site was fine but the campground is located next to a highway the comes down a pretty substantial hill so expect lots of noise from the trucks using their engine brakes. This might be a nice summertime stop as the Fort opens in April, they have a pool at the state park and there is a put put golf course at the campground. For a wintertime stop and considering the truck noise you be better off stopping somewhere else especially with the high cost of a campsite. We had no cell service at the campground. You can pay for wifi.
