This place is pretty peaceful with lots of privacy on most sites. Bathrooms were kept clean. Sites were a mix of hard packed sand and fine shell bits, mostly level. Lots of tree cover which is great for keeping the camper as cool as possible however as trees/birds/squirrels do makes for a bit of a mess on your roof and awnings. Our site was along a side road that goes back to a public pier so we did get some of that noise but you couldn’t see any of the traffic so it was not a biggie with a old growth barrier in between. Beach is right across the road, plus a small beach area in the opposite direction in the Tolomato River bank. Lots to see back there, even more so than the beach honestly. Though I had full cellular LTE bars the internet was very slow. Not the campgrounds fault of course just didn’t make sense. We were near one of their WiFi hotspots and connected our Winegard. It helped some. Still here as I write this but I think it’s safe to say our stay here is good.

It was August 2021 and we were moving my daughter into the dorms at Valdosta State. We had ourselves set up at River Park, in part due to great location to everything in Valdosta. Unfortunately the night we arrived she fell terribly ill and we had to take her to the ER. She was treated and released but still very sick and had to go back to the ER the next day where she stayed for the next 6 days. Obviously this was a stressful time but Pete and Victoria were super helpful and let us extend our stay with no issues. They were very attentive to check on us as we went back and forth to the hospital. They even allowed a late night laundry detail when normally they lock it up at 10ish. They showed genuine concern for my daughter as she was dealing with a major respiratory, not Covid related believe it or not…they tested her twice a day for 6 days. I ended up working from the camper with no issues as I already and a remote employee and Verizon cell service was fine for hotspot off iPhone. The place was quiet other than the occasional landscapers blowing off sites with gas blowers. Nights were no issues. I suppose if you are outside you may hear I-75 traffic but never inside the camper unless a tractor trailer was Jake braking. Site was at the front of the park, maybe designed for the one nighters with easy pull through, but level with very nice grass so no outdoor carpet needed (or allowed, to protect it, they take pride in the beautification of the park and it was evident from the time they spent tending to it). Kind hearted managers made that part of our lives as stress free as possible and remained flexible with us since we didn’t know day to day what would happen. I’m a little late getting this posted but felt our experience was such that I had to share the kindness they showed my family. All is well with the kid but couldn’t stay at school and ended up remote this year. But it was all for the best. When she plans to return to in person we will certainly be back at River Park.

So we came up for our son’s graduation from UGA in Athens and the only site available was in the equestrian area/side which is a mile down the road from the regular site and office. It was nice none the less but spots were a little more rustic, meaning level etc. lots of horses of course and horse stalls so it was great to see these big beautiful animals. Others had their “toy” haulers, horse transports. Camp host was very nice and the bathhouses were some of the best I’ve seen. They were private bathrooms essentially. We hope to come back and stay in the regular camping area. The trails along the river were great. Uncharacteristically cool weather for this time of year but made hiking perfect. Bring fishing gear, fly fishing would be preferred in the falls/rocky area. Very light rapids. Enjoying our stay so far.
