My family and I are on a COVID avoidance adventure so we are always looking for a quiet campground to visit. This one is perfect for that. I am driving a 40' Class A plus toad and the campground is painless to navigate. The campground is paved in a figure 8 shape and is perfect for the kids to bike on. All sites are paved but not all the pull-throughs are as level as they could be. We are staying at 43 and it is very level. Out of all the sites, no more than 8 in use.

Campground has bathrooms and showers. We don't need to use them but I checked them out and they looked clean. Dump station is clean as well. It has a fresh water spigot (it is clearly identified as drinking water) to fill your water tank. The info board claims that water is off for the season but the tap at site 43 has running water. It's way too cold at night right now (12°F last night) to use it since I don't have a heated hose.

No lights at the campground other than by the bathrooms. This makes for great night sky viewing. The stars are spectacular. You can see I-40 from the campground but barely hear it.

The ranger station had the usual park related items and nice exhibit about the ruins. Only one person or family is allowed in at a time which is really nice, and unusual, to see in Arizona. The ranger was very friendly and engaged my kids unprompted for Jr. Ranger books and badges.

Nice proximity to Petrified Forest National Park for an easy day trip. Also trivial to make it over to Winslow to get supplies or check it out.

Stay away! Wishing I had read the review from last July. Beautiful spot but there are too many mosquitoes to actually be outside and enjoy it. We’ve traveled in our 40’ class A all over the west and southern US. Have never seen this many mosquitoes. We were supposed to be here 3 nights but leaving after 1 night.
Our 40’ class A fits fine. Camp staff really nice.
