We arrived just after dark on a Saturday and the parking lot was pretty busy. Even so there was plenty of space on the edges. We parked on the west side on the edge of the parking lot. Never spoke with tribal police but we saw them and appreciated their presence. Several other rigs were there. Pretty quiet even though the casino was busy. Sunday morning was nice and quiet with hardly anyone around. We woke to birds chirping and since we faced away it wasn't like casino parking lot camping at all. There is free wifi but you have to sign up for their rewards to use it. We did not but the signal seemed strong even far away from the building. Will definitely stay again when passing through.

We stayed here to attend the Blind Willie McTell Blues Festival. They offered a free shuttle from the campground. Very large pull through with nice lake views. A bit of a trek to the bathhouse. Folks there were very nice. Note that they do not take walk-ins. You must make a reservation. Plan to go back next year for the festival and will stay at Raysville again.

We recently spent 4 nights at Lake Powatan. Had no reservations but they were able to get a spot for 4 nights without having sites mid visit. The bathhouses were super clean. The bath houses are comprised of 2 rest rooms and 2 showers each are their own room. Nothing communal which I liked. The showers are push button and for one shower session I had to press probably 10+ times but pressure and temperature were good. You can not adjust the water temps. I also liked that they had a hand dryer in the bathroom. This girl likes to dry her hair on occasion :) There are several loops and this is a big campground but the layout was such that we had privacy and plenty of space between us and any neighboring sites. It filled up over the weekend but everyone was pretty quiet. There are many camp hosts and there was always someone at the gate (even when we got back late). All the staff that we met were super friendly with the exception of one woman whose has let power go to her head but we found that pretty comical.

This trip was mainly for us to enjoy Asheville so we did not spend a ton of time at our site. The access to Asheville was great and we gorged on food truck stops, local brews and pinball.

Was told by an employee that they plan to keep at least one loop open year round (I think they usually close in November)

A bit dirty when we arrived but after cleaning trash out of our site enjoyed our stay. Some of the sites are close together but we stayed in #25 and had plenty of space between us and the neighbors. There is a beach which we thought was closed since it was surrounded by a locked chain link fence but was told later it was open and to walk around. Instead we took a quick swim right at our site. (Some are steeper than others)

I didn't visit the bath house but my husband said it could use a little attention.

Staff was nice. View of dam was pretty cool. We were there on a summer weekend so the lake was busy with boats and jet skis but it was very quiet at night.

There isn't much signage when you pull in, no arrows and road though very narrow seems to be 2-way. We ended up going in the wrong direction and had to turn around to be able to back in to our site. Luckily we are small!
