Subtracting a star for highway noise, but really enjoyed our one night stay. Shady enough, and our pull-through spot 40 had enough open space for Starlink to work. Our dog enjoyed the big dog park (all gravel, but has trees and some shade), and there’s a nice tree-lined road to walk your dog if off-leash isn’t your thing. Lone Pine is a nice town, easy to spend a few days exploring and Boulder Creek would be a nice base camp with a pool. Would definitely stay again.

Beautiful park! Stayed in North Grove, sites 3 and 4 very unlevel but glad we stayed there for access to the sequoias. Anywhere in North Grove is an easy 5-10 minute walk to the grove. Dogs not allowed on the trails but there’s plenty of nice spaces in the campground to walk them.

Dry camping, okay space between sites in the first loop. Quiet during the week in early June, the pass over the Sierras wasn’t open yet.

If you must have internet access and have an inverter, sites 8 and 9 MIGHT be able to work for Starlink, as they open onto a nice meadow. Or maybe the sites in the 60’s backing up to the meadow on the other side of the creek. Didn’t work in site 3.

It’s not a bad place to stay during the week, but definitely needs some TLC. The lady who checked us in at the gate was very nice. Lots of trash everywhere - could be because we arrived for 2 nights on a Sunday afternoon and it was pretty busy during the day with day trippers. They lock the gates at night, I guess to keep out the riffraff, as it was pretty empty and calm on a mid-June Monday.

We had an electric/water site, level enough. Starlink should work anywhere as there’s not a ton of shade. My dog liked the grass by the playground but hated the dry weeds and stickers around the campsites. And the water in the whole South campground (not sure about the North side) went out unexpectedly on Monday morning. Not sure how often that happens or if/when they got it fixed. We were glad we were leaving. Didn’t use the dump station, but they do have one.

I would say it’s okay for a night on the way to Sequoia/Kings Canyon or if you have a boat and like to fish.

Nice to be out of the desert and in the mountains! Like being in Colorado.

If you’re coming from the west/north (Death Valley, Beatty, etc) on US-95, highly recommend you take NV-157 (further south on 95) rather than NV-156 (first option when heading south). After driving over 2 mountain passes in Death Valley to get from California to here, the twisty climb up then back down on 156/158 was a bit unnecessary.

Took a star off for the noise (relentless) during the day midweek in mid June. Dies down at night. Otherwise, sites are nicely spaced and there’s good enough places to walk the dog. Starlink works well in site 7, would probably work in most sites even with the trees. Good AT&T signal.
