We prefer the feel and cost of state parks over RV parks but everything was full or closed due to Hurricane Matthew clean up. So, we stayed here since the proximity to Charleston was right. Check in was easy and many (most?) of the sites are pull through and perfectly level which was nice. The back area (where we were) really packs them in with the narrowest strip of grass between out picnic table and the slide of the neighboring 5th wheel. We were dwarfed by the class As and 5th wheels (the 5th wheel next to us could look down into our vista view windows :/ ). Closer to the middle of the park offers a more grassy area, more space between sites and more trees. The back area also has some busy roads boarding it and the traffic (and emergency vehicle) noise was considerable. Again, I think somewhere in the middle of the park is better.

The fenced dog run is HUGE and our lab, Vader, approved. The small playground was enough to make my kids happy. The pool is cute but right next to a busy road. Bathhouses were immaculate.

Proximity to Charleston is superb. Access to the park is excellent. Grocery store around the corner.

We were shocked to find that the site we chose (thank goodness there were some left—helps that we got there on a Sunday evening) was full hook ups. Beautiful mountainside location, fully treed and private. Nice hiking/biking trails, great lake for swimming your dog in the off season (and probably nice for swimming your people in the summer). The bath houses were spotless and updated. In fact there were heat lamps in the bath rooms making those chilly fall mornings bearable. We were in site 42 which was very nice, almost level and private. I'd shoot for site 46 if/when we can get back there—had nice up-the-mountain views and some "yard" space. Despite the tight loop road, the biggest big rigs seemed to do just fine!

Impressively close to downtown Asheville but watch the rush house traffic coming out of the city in the direction of the campground—brutal. Of course the Biltmore is spectacular. Chimney Rock is a must climb. Grab dinner and drinks at the Sierra Nevada Brewery and don't miss Hole Doughnuts.

With our WeBoost we got 2 or 3 bars…enough to work and surf.

Tucked onto the little point of land where the Chesapeake Bay and Potomac river meet, PLSP served at a prison for Confederate soldiers after the Battle of Gettysburg, housing up to 20,000 men. Lots more fascinating history from before (and after) that time. Great little museum, lighthouse, etc. And while the history of the place is awesome, the Greens Point loop is not to be missed by campers…from tents on up to a 30' travel trailer (as we had). The sandy sites are pretty level and some (like site 93 and others on that side) are long and nestled in tall rushes creating lovely privacy. At one point a massive great blue heron strolled right through the rushes by our site maybe 10 feet from us. Osprey (and osprey nests built on platforms in the water) are everywhere and are very cool to watch. Rent a canoe from the on-site museum to explore the shallow water and watch bald eagles flying above. Swim in the Chesapeake at the nearby beach (they even have an excellent dog beach!). Throw a line in and catch your dinner. Or just enjoy the sunset from your campsite with a cocktail in hand.

There's also a full-hookup loop but you definitely give up the amazing views for it. The electric-only Green's Point loop is the place to be. Beautiful.

It would be tight for bigger than 30' (in my opinion) and only a handful of sites will work for that size (they happen to be the best ones though). Bathrooms were clean and updated.
