Easy arrival, friendly staff.

-Huge level spaces big enough for 45 foot plus extra vehicle.
-Good showers, Good Laundry,
-No cable TV
-WiFi was reliable 2MB download speed and streamed video reliably ( They are promoting relatively fast WiFi)
-Numerous Local Over The Air TV channels also available on antenna.

New park with no problems I saw. Not Cheap but not bad for the area and Boondockers looking for a place to splurge for a night and be close to the Golden Spike Transcontinental Railroad Historic Site.

CAUTION: This area has easy access off of Hwy 395. Pulling in there was a few barely visible signs of previous campfires. Possible some group was burning wood pallets. This is a large flat area and after parking and leveling the rig I did a walk around outside the RV. I found a few nails on the ground and picked them up. After having a quick snack I walked around further and picked up more than two dozen nails and a few screws. It was getting dark so we stayed overnight and in the morning before leaving I tried to walk a patch out of the area and picked up many more nails. The motor home made it out ok but we picked up a nail in the TOAD and had to get the tire repaired. I will avoid this area.

Would camp here again if a better location was unavailable.

Lower Teton or Toppings as per the Official Forest Service Ambassador on-site is getting used a lot and the use shows. The roads to lower and upper is getting pretty rough and many campers using the road while I was there seem to think it’s ok to drive up and down the road at any speed they like which is not really ok.

Slow down: People driving way to fast down dirt roads past other campers stir up a lot of dust. It’s impossible enjoy sitting outside with a cold drink to enjoy the view when you are choking on dust.

Slow down: Speeding and bouncing around on a dirt road only serves to wear out the road more quickly.

Slow down: Be a good neighbor and courteous Camper/RV’er

The Forest Service Ambassador told me the Forest Service is considering a fee to use this area to help pay for the maintenance that is needed due to the increased use. He also mentioned that he has to put out smoldering campfire several times a week left by careless campers. (Probably the speeders)

All in all this area upper and lower have good views. The lower area doesn’t have many level areas. The upper area may be crowded and the access road is rough and narrow is spots.

1. Arrival is at the RV Park Office, a Small Brown Storage shed with a couple windows cut in and a wall mounted air conditioner.

2. Tips: Don't even stop here. It's a shiphole.

3. Favorite thing about this location was getting a refund before I actually pulled into a spot and put jacks down.

4. Negatives:
-Broken down car with rear window broken out in one spot.
-A old dirty brown school bus with Burning Man memorabilia in another.
-Broken down travel trailer with skirting around it and a guy mowing a small patch of grass with a weed eater.
-A Pit Bull on a 15 foot trucker chain that charged me like I was a piece of raw meat.
-Another dog chained to a tree that was barking non stop.
-The office lady in the small brown storage shed admitting they had a problem with squatters and had served eviction notices on several monthly renters after I asked for a refund.

Thats enough. Bottom Line, Pass on this dump.

Snake Lake Campground is currently a free boondocking location in the Plumas National Forest. There is a sign posted on the information board indicating that there MAY be fees charged in 2020 and a concessionaire in place to bring improvements to the campground. It was an improved campground at one time with vault toilets, picnic tables and Bear Lockers. Currently the toilets and grounds are usable but in disrepair. Many Campsites are unlevel with the Lakeside sites the best option for RV’s. A 28’ Class A Winnebago fit just fine. Snake Lake is covered mostly with Lily pad and very brushy along the shoreline. Pretty much unusable for recreation. This campground is also an equestrian area and has horse corral’s on site.

Last week of August 2019 visit to Yellowstone. Bakers Hole Campground is $10 with a National Park Access Pass.

The very picturesque Madison River flows on the boundary of the campground just 50 yards from my campsite. Great camp hosts, friendly and knowledgeable about Yellowstone Park and the town of West Yellowstone, MT. Really clean vault toilets, potable water at several locations. Lots of shade so not bad solar but not great. Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park in town of West Yellowstone provides an RV Dump and Potable Water for $10.

The West entrance to the park is only 3.7 miles away making it convenient for day trips to Yellowstone. Highway 191 is close to campsites proving quick easy access but there is some highway noise especially if you're in camp during the day. Hardly noticed any noise at night.
Good location and price if your mainly interested in visiting YellowStone.
