This was a perfect spot to park our rig while exploring the Santa Fe area (8 min away from town) We stayed for 2 nights. It was very quiet despite being right off the highway. There were at least 4 other rigs and a professional driver in the large open parking lots. The views of the surrounding mountains are beautiful!!
We enjoyed some delicious food and drinks at the Cottonwood Kitchen within the casino during happy hour for only $20 for the two of us!
Definitely check out Meow Wolf in Santa Fe for an unforgettable immersive art experience in the House of Eternal Return. A lil pricey for non-residents and non-military but worth it to support local artists and enjoy an afternoon on a cold rainy day.
It's easy to find just off the highway. Paved roads throughout the campground. Fairly level gravel pull-thru sites. About 8 minutes from town, which has plenty for supplies... Tractor Supply, Walmart, Loves for water, and Ferral gas for propane refills.
Important off-season (October - April) notes:
1) Water is shut off, fill before arrival. (It mentions this on their website. However, it also says water will remain on at the comfort station for campers, but this is false.)
2) Comfort station is closed. However, there are port - o - potties and vent toilets around the campground.
3) Arrive before 5 pm, gates close promptly at 5pm, and do not re-open until 7 am. (We were unaware of this and arrived at 6 pm having to park in the after-hours parking lot next to the hwy even though we had paid for a site, no refunds)
Overall, it was a great experience. There is a trail to hike that overlooks a gorge. The Montezuma Hot Springs was our favorite part. It's only about 14 minutes away.

Although it is well visited, it is quiet. The 10 well spaced gravel pull thru sites provide enough privacy, so it doesn't feel crowded. Each site has a fire ring, sheltered tables, and a grill. Site 5 had the best cell signal. If you snag this spot, bring leveling blocks. It's not super level. Any rig could make it here. Roads are paved.
15 minutes into Grants that has a Walmart and plenty for supply needs.
Water is available at the rangers station daily from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
Close to Sandstone Bluffs and El Malpias National Monument. There is plenty of hiking around the campground. Gorgeous sunsets from atop the cliffs. Bring your binoculars/telescope, the stars are dreamy.
