Wayside is a surprising gem just outside of Bandon. The park has 8 RV spots and several tent camping sites as well. It operates behind a small motel which they also run.

There’s not much to say about the location, it’s neither scenic nor private, but don’t let that deter you. It’s walking distance from groceries and amenities and a (longer but still doable) walk into Old Town.

We stayed in site number 8, which is located on the end of the row backing up to a couple of houses and bordered on the other side by a cemetery. The site was mostly level and had convenient and well maintained hookups. The park has some ambient road noise from Hwy 101 but nothing overly noticeable.

As other reviewers have noted, this park is quiet, even despite being full and the sites somewhat close. What a treat to have such a convenient and quiet location so close to all the fun Bandon has to offer! The decor is charming, with string lights throughout the park, flowers and picnic tables. Cell reception is good and the wi-fi is the best we’ve encountered in an RV park. We were able to stream Netflix with no issues.

The owners sold the park to new ownership at the end of August, but the new owners seem to be on top of things already. We were greeted on arrival, advised on where to find the best tacos, and given a bottle of wine. What hospitality!

We highly recommend this little spot!

The ample great reviews on this campground don’t lie, it’s really that good. Friendly owners, exceptionally well-maintained, clean bathrooms and shower. If it was full hookup, people would never leave. Owners will deliver firewood ($8) and ice each day at 4 pm. Gift shop contains a wide selection of higher-end souvenirs. Owner Tom is super helpful in pointing out all the local things to do. Sites are well-spaced in most places, partial hookup only, very shaded. Cell booster boosted us to 4 bars, but data wasn’t great. They’ve recently added Wi-Fi which was pretty decent, if spotty, until the crowds rolled in for the weekend. Overall, highly recommended. We’ll definitely return.

The Port Ludlow RV park is one of the nicest. Full hook-ups, private and spacious pull-thru and back-in lots, and responsive manager. The sites are heavily treed and feel like miles away from the town. But, if you run out of beer, a small village store and a pizza restaurant are only a short walk away. You can easily access the well-maintained trail to view Ludlow Falls from the park — a short and kid-friendly scenic walk. We also highly recommend the trail along Osprey — accessed next to the four way stop just a few minutes walk from the park. Neighbors are quiet. The only noise is occasional road noise nearby.

This state park, close to Ocean Shores and a Quinault Beach Resort and Casino, is a great location for campers looking to be close to things to do, but perhaps isn’t expecting the park to be the entertainment. The sites are well maintained but can be very close together, while other sites have total privacy. You can hear, but not see, the ocean - which is about a 1/4 mile walk away. We probably wouldn’t camp in this site again, look for something with more privacy - inner of Loop 4 has a lot of too-close sites. The beach was nice, but tons of cars driving around. All the same, the location is great but perhaps underwhelming as a campground.

As other reviews have noted, Fairholme Campground is well-situated for many of the popular activities along Lake Crescent. Located just above the lake on the hill, there are a ton of campsites for tent camping and many that would easily accommodate all but the largest of RVs.

Sites vary in size, but are generally spacious and semi-private separated by mature growth and trees. There are three loops, but loop C will get you closest to the lake with peekaboo views.

For how popular this campground is, it’s a wonder they don’t have a reservation system. The camp was full nearly all week long. We arrived around 11:30 am on a Monday and it was 75% full. It was full by evening and remained full all week. Cars and campers circle repeatedly hoping to snag a spot from someone leaving, and on our check-out day we were approached by three different people asking for our spot. In the end, someone paid for our site before we had even vacated it - hoping to block everyone else out of it first.

We had two bars on Verizon but only in the camping area for tents near the lake. No bars at our site (62) and no bars for AT&T.

Pros:
- Idyllic area with amazing views and tons to do in the surrounding park
- Spacious sites, well treed
- Beach area and boat launch for easy access to the lake

Cons
- SO MUCH TRAFFIC NOISE. This campground is right off Hwy 101 and the traffic sounds are all day and well into the night. The logging trucks are very loud and constant starting at 2 am and running until 6 pm or so.
- So busy. This place is so busy and popular that we even witnessed a scam in the site across from us where a woman left two chairs behind on her last day, and never returned. Eventually someone moved the chairs and took the spot as it hadn’t been paid for by 1 pm — but then two men showed up later in the evening claiming it was their chairs and their spot. It could’ve been quite an altercation.
- Uneven sites, definitely bring your levelers and a lot of them.

In all, I wouldn’t visit this campground if you’re “looking to get away from it all” but it’d be great if you just want a place to crash while you do all the touristy stuff around.

Tip: If this still sounds like the place for you, plan to show up early in the week and a few hours before check-out (9-10 am) to scout the sites on the board scheduled to be vacated and cross your fingers. Good luck!

We arrived on a Wednesday to a nearly empty campground. We were greeted by a friendly and helpful park host while we scoped out the sites. We found several sites that would fit our 23’ Airstream and selected site 11 which is very private and on the river. Site 11 is great, arguably one of the best sites, but has a tricky turnaround that might make it difficult for folks with a trailer and a longer TV. Definitely scope it out before giving it a try or risk getting stuck.

Lots of beautiful mostly second growth trees with a few short and well maintained trails extending from the campground including one that leads to the Strait of Juan de Fuca,

Our stay was quiet and peaceful. Another reviewer noted there was a dumpster on site but we didn’t see one. Drop toilet bathrooms appear well maintained, campground is clean and clearly loved well by those who maintain it.

Sites range from spacious to moderate in size and can be a bit muddy if there’s been recent rain.

Cell coverage for Site 11 was 1 - 2 bars of 4G on Verizon and AT&T. You’re not going to be doing any work here, but it’s good enough for loading webpages (slowly) and texting.

We stayed at Bastendorff on a last minute reservation over Labor Day weekend. We weren’t expecting much, but we were pleasantly surprised.

The park has two main camping levels. The lower level is heavily treed and closest to the beach, but no views from any campsite. The upper level requires a tight and short, but steep climb to access. It’s further from the beach, but sunnier and has a large group camping area. All sites seem fairly private with good vegetation and low berms to give a sense of privacy. The sites are still a bit crowded and close to the access loop.

Oddly, this campground allowed campfires when all others we’ve visited this summer did not due to the wildfire season.

As others have mentioned, the beach is a short distance away, but there are no access paths from the campground so you have to walk the road on the shoulder or drive. It’s a ridiculously short drive, but the shoulder doesn’t feel super safe to walk either. There seems to be plenty of street parking and a lot, so even on this busy weekend, no one struggled to secure a spot. Watch for the blind corners on this stretch of road, especially when exiting the park - we nearly witnessed a T-bone accident while walking to the beach.

You can hear the waves, even from the upper camp loop, and as another review mentioned, the fog horn was also prevalent all day and night. Frankly the dogs barking were more annoying than the foghorn. There was a virtual chorus of barking dogs throughout the daylight hours.

The playground is derelict but strangely not closed; it looks like a horror flick with broken and rusted swings. I probably wouldn’t let a child play there unless they’ve recently had a tetanus shot.

Dump station is operational at the time of this review with a $10 fee, not included in camp fees.

AT&T varies from 1-2 bars of LTE, Verizon usually holds at 2 bars.
All in all, we were here for the beach and it was wonderful. This was a slightly above average campground for us.
