Trucks filled up the rv parking. We went over to park in the regular parking lot. It was 11:45pm. First a guy in a green beat up dodge truck drives by going 2 mph, while I’m walking the little dog. My husband was getting out of the truck and saw him creeping so reached in his tool bag and grabbed something just in case. Then he grabbed our Weimaraner and walked straight towards him. He kept moving slowly but finally left. Next a black sedan with 3 men did the same thing. My husband decided that’s it and we left. Not sure if it’s drug activity, they are looking to rob someone or they are perv’s. But I would suggest RVers skip this place for now. Especially females alone or elderly. I grabbed the bear spray just in case. :-)

It’s one of those epic places you stumble on and say wow I love that my life allows me the privilege of enjoying places like this. We were here in early November the leaves were just starting to change. I expect them to be great in the next few weeks. The road in is a little bumpy, but not bad. There are 8 spots, 7 with canopies. All have fire pits and picnic tables. It is a little ways to town, but this is camping for peace and quiet, beautiful night skies and epic sunsets. The owners were extremely nice people. The Verizon cell coverage is 5 bars up at the spots. There are several hiking trails. We did them all. I believe they would be rated relatively easy, but due to a recent storm there were a few branches down. We really enjoyed this benefit as did our dog. Spots are gravel. Everything is clean and well maintained. We saw travel trailers, 5th wheels, B’s and Cs. The road in might be challenging for really large Class As. We will definitely be back, if there’s space available.

Having never been here before we checked reviews and watched a video on it and well, it wasn’t what we expected. We were a bit uncomfortable because we came in a little after dark, it was around 6pm in November. There is no light. We had no problems locating it. GPS takes you right to it. There is a cemetery right at the entrance if you can’t locate it. Then you drive almost 2.5 miles down a bumpy road, the road is narrow, but we didn’t meet anyone. When we got down there we followed the directions on the video and drove around which worked out fine. However, apparently this is hog hunting season in Florida and there were about 30+ trucks and boat trailers parked all over the place. there was a family in one site who asked us what site we were in and told us where it was we would have found it, but they were nice to help. There were a few empty RV spots even though online they were all booked up. Backing in went really well and everything was clean and well maintained. It is in the middle of nowhere, but it is free. In the morning there were even more trucks and trailers some parked in RV spots. There was a loud generator that ran until 10pm but everyone observed the quiet hours. This would probably be a better experience when not during hunting season. Also cell service was awful. 3g mostly for Verizon. There have been recent storms so maybe a tower is down.

We picked this campground based on the reviews, location and the fact that it had full hookups. Not sure where the others who reviewed it stayed, but we can’t believe it was here. At least one other camper said to us that they chose this place based on reviews and also couldn’t believe it. Verizon cell service is 1-2 bars inconsistently, WiFi might as well not exist. At first we were put in section P, which is almost all long term seal coat workers. All of their trucks and equipment are parked all over this section of the park, at times you can barely get through the road. There is blacktop stuff all over the area where their trailers are parked. There is trash everywhere. Like why would anyone throw trash on the ground where they live? Burger wrappers, soda and beer cans, coke bottles, random trash. Even on and around the laundry near the office including old underwear. Our neighbors on one side sat outside having a screaming conversation on the phone right outside our window until my husband went outside and asked them to stop, they did. The older lady on the other side had a broken sewer line with sewage on the ground, smelled horrible. I let her know and she blamed the campground staff for it saying they damaged it. My husband spoke to the office and they said they told her about it a WEEK ago, a WEEK ago? Why didn’t they evict her? Or fix it? The campground did let us relocate to another spot at that time and someone replaced the sewer hose, but left the old one and the sewage on the ground. We noticed another broken sewer hose in the same section of the park. An older couple pulled in around dinner time one night, the wife walked with a cane, and after a bit someone from the office came and yelled at them excessively for about 10 minutes, before handing them a receipt. Not sure what that was about, but they left at first light. There were numerous dogs running off leash at least a few of them belong to park staff. Needless to say we wanted to leave, but we were in town to see family and had obligations. We won’t be staying here again. There were numerous trailers without license plates, and vehicles with expired tags. Oh and as we were leaving a guy from the maintenance staff was standing at the edge of the woods peeing. If you have doubts see the photos.

Not sure where the other folks were thinking that said they had good cell service here??? I have 0 bars Verizon and have to find somewhere else to stay this week so we can work. Other than that it seems like a really nice place. Site is very unlevel.

We didn’t know this was here and picked it as a fall back plan for staying at the fairgrounds. The fairgrounds only had 1 bar of Verizon lte. Since we work full time we headed back to the state park, called on the way and made a reservation for 3 days. We were pleasantly surprised that there were such nice views of the lake, large sites and full hookups. There was some Halloween candy wrappers laying around and it was over a week since Halloween. Also, must be near a military base, helicopters flying by and some gun fire and mortars noise, but not late and not to often. Lake is great for paddle boarding and kayaking. I saw an otter while paddling around.

This place could be so much more, especially given the location and the price. Sites are very crowded. Lots of road noise in the red site section from the road. The Ferry starts running at 5am and you can hear the PA system announcements. The vibration of the ferry can be felt. 2 of the 5 washers were broken. Dog park is behind the trash bins and there is plenty of poo everywhere, even though there are signs that say pick it up. People were nice enough. We didn’t use the showers. Verizon service is only 2 bars and very slow. I wouldn’t want to come here for a vacation. There is a Beach about a mile away, hardly anyone was there.

I would caution everyone against staying here. We are not scared easily. It has a family baseball area, kids playing games, everything appears ok. When you get back where the rv parking lot is the electric works. We didn’t try the water, it didn’t look clean, but it might be? However, we noticed a lot of cars, a few would sit and others would come visit for a few minutes then leave. Nobody bothered us, but we decided to leave just as it got dark. No one else was there. Roads bumpy on the way in including speed bumps.
