I had mixed feelings about reserving here since I had read some reviews that there wasn't much to do within walking distance. We camp with three big dogs and easily accessible hiking is top on our list of wants. Two nights at Elk Neck didn't disappoint though, and we had a great stay. Hiking trails are within a few minutes walk down the road and lead to some cool views and beaches. Some of the trails we hiked were a bit overgrown and in rough shape, but all were generally well blazed and easy to follow. It goes without saying, but if you're here in the summer months prepare for the bugs. Flies in particular were abundant.

Arrived in a downpour to site 30 in the full hookup Northeast loop. Pad was flooded, but so was everything else and we quickly set up and dried out. Site was dead level and plenty large enough for our 30' trailer. Water/sewer/electric worked with no issues. The full hookup loop is fairly well spaced and was about 80% full when we were there. It is close to the road and, while not too busy, traffic can be heard. If you're willing to rough it some of the sites in the primitive loops looked spectacular.
