KCL was fairly easy to get to. We had a wonderful spot with sweeping views. It was mid-April, still in pandemic mode, and even though dry as a bone with no wildflowers, plenty of people showed up. It's like a clump of people in the middle of nowhere. Still, it's not that big and there are no services. There are some trees and shade here. And owls. Great views. There's a wild west feel to the area. Toilets were fine. There was no water if I remember correctly. I would camp here again.

We woke up Tuesday morning and talked about the eclipse and the next thing you know we chucked gear in the car and were on our way. We found a perfect spot to view the eclipse, and a blazing sunset. There was no shade to speak of in this spot, so I wouldn't have been happy to stay longer, but there were plenty of spots around. (May) A popup would help too, but this was an impromptu trip. Water spigots near us were not operating. The vault toilets were fine and stocked with TP and there were dumpsters. There was also a recycling receptacle near the entrance. Spots were varied - some sloped driveways, some flat. We had a tent and found a flat enough spot. There was another site pretty close - not too bad but their campfire seemed very close and bright. No real services in the immediate area (gas, food). It was fairly quiet, but it was a weeknight.

It takes a bit of time on a dirt road to get here. We were in a small pickup camper we were trying out. It's a bit elevated. The spots are small, not far apart, but with some shrubs separating spots. Toilets were fine. There was a working water spigot, which I didn't expect. It was very windy the night we stayed so we didn't hang outside much. Pleasant enough and away from everything. No services nearby. Good views.
