Char & Sandy

Canandaigua, NY, United States

2 sisters exploring the country. Sandy is a travel nurse which affords us great opportunities to stay in a place for 13 weeks and thouroughly explore it and the surrounding area. We grew up camping with our parents and are still enjoying the camping experience.

We chose this campground for its location so close to Gateway Arch. We could get on the metroline at the end of the casino parking lot and get off across the river to walk the paths to the Arch.
It was suppose to be a secure campground with a code to punch in for entry but the gate was broken the 2 nites we were there. So the exit gate was wide open for anyone to come and go.
The sites are close together and you need your levelers. The bathhouse had no hot water and no cleaners. Showers were ok but stalls were disgusting.
As you go in the sites to the left have some shade and patches of grass so they look pretty good. The ones to the right are gravel and wide open, no shade.
So if you are looking for a great location this is it. But don't come if you are looking for great amenities.

We chose this camping spot for the adventure of something different, and it didn't disappoint. There was some confusion getting a site as my research said it was first come, first serve but the attendants wanted to know about our reservation. Tommy, the attendant on duty at Korbel East/West, was very helpful and got us taken care of. As stated on line there was plenty of sites open so no problem getting one.
I had checked to see when the State Fair was going so we wouldn't run into the crowd but what I didn't know was there are many horse competitions leading up to the Fair. Still it was fun seeing all the horses and people dressed up for their events.
We had water and electric, 30 amp. There was a dump station in Korbel West. Something about the electric wouldn't let us use a/c and micro at same time. But that's doable. And the dump station was on the wrong side which was also fixable you just had to back up to it.
The only really downside for us was the grass was really long and little biting bugs would fly out when you walked in it.
If we go back again, which I definitely would if in the area, I would chose Korbel North. The sites have more space and the grass wouldn't be an issue.

This was our first time trying out the Love's RV sites. I would use them again. It was a little confusing when we got there how to check in as therecwas a small kiosk but just a phone number posted inside. Finally went into store and the explained that I got the check in info in my email.
Site was clean and fairly level. Of course there was road noise but that was expected and didn't bother us.
Our Verison phones worked well and our Homefi internet picked up great signal to watch TV with no buffering.
