Although behind a fence, it’s pretty cool and worth a stop. Out if towners staying in the area can easily walk to it. Locals visiting downtown will find plenty of parking in the area.
The Grand Canyon of Mississippi!
From Hattiesburg, drive west on Hwy 98 to Columbia. On the west side of Columbia, take a right on 587 at the light once you go over the big bridge.
The canyon is not visible from Hwy 587. When traveling on Hwy 587 north from the intersection of 587 and 586, you first must pass Morgan town, then take a sharp right to stay on 587. Drive another three, four miles and you'll see the first closed road to the right. Drive past it and take the next right. There are no landmarks; you are in the middle of nowhere! Drive to the end of the road where you will find another "Road Closed" sign.
