Steaks, pan seared fish and ribs were all great! We’d love to catch the piano player....
This was super cool, but a very brief visit. We happened to catch someone here with the media and they let us in for a self-guided tour. Check with the local tourism office in Augusta before visiting or you will be disappointed!
A strenuous but very pleasant 1mi hike from our parking lot, this was a wonderful outdoors addition to our itinerary. The leg back was all downhill, and our 6 and 9 y/o did well and enjoyed the little caves and alcoves. There are other parking lots closer to the bridge and a few other trails. We heard great things about this park and the many trails from locals. If I knew, I would have planned a little more time there.
For a home cooked meal on the road- including pies!!- this is a great stop. The hospitality makes you feel like you’re at Grandma’s house. The building looks rough and is behind a Valero gas station, but it was just what our family ordered. I wish we could find more of these pictures n the road!!
Definitely worth stopping, if you have time. The show was ok, but the host was very engaging for our 6&9 year old boys. We walked through the habitats before hitting the road again and enjoyed the break from driving.
The exhibits were underwhelming at our time of stopping by, however the staff were very kind and gracious.
The whole family loved this! Go to the bathroom before taking the tour of the house. I regret not doing the audio tours for my family, including the kid’s version for my 6 y/o. However, my 9y/o was really into reading the guide and being our tour guide.
The gardens were great and the Chihuly exhibits were a favorite photography subject of young and old(er). I am so glad I gave my kids the camera for a bit. We took about three hours, but if I had planned it a bit better (bathrooms before tour, purchased audio tour, packed lunch), we could have spent 4-5 hours there.
We came from Asheville, expecting to eat breakfast at 8:30and were disappointed that the restaurant didn’t open until 10am. :( But - our 6&9 y/os made the most of it- a PAYPHONE! - a piece of long-lost Americana!! However, when we got in the car, our Verizon and our AT&T services were lost and our GPS stopped working. Be sure to print directions, just in case! ;) (luckily, we did)
The food was great and it was fun to see something our 6&9 y/o boys could relate to and enjoy also!!
This was slightly disappointing as we had imagined a much larger place with more to see. but still a great stop while driving through. Our 6&9 y/o boys liked it too!
