Got in late in the evening with high expectations. Pulling in through the mainly-deserted town could be interpreted as scary. However, following the very visible and precise signage to the campground changed that feeling. What a fantastic community building (from 1934, BTW), campground, playground, ball field…the ONLY thing missing is a dump station, but I think that would ruin the feel of this getaway. 30 and 20 amp service accessible at each site. WONDERFUL campground host lives on site to answer questions. Speaking of…the fee box is currently a mailbox near the community building. Host said it’s checked frequently, but it’s not secure. If paying by check the payee is “Blaine County”, not Zurich.

Base camped here to do things around Lassen Volcanic Nat’l Park. It was still snowy and blustery so staying at a lower elevation with access to water and power was nice. Staff we contacted were incredibly friendly. The office, at 195 Russell St, closes at 5 and only open on weekdays. Best to get in before then or call ahead, per their request. DON’T follow the signs at the main road to the fairgrounds. Just to go the 195 Russell address to check in.

Very basic wide spot pull-off area. It is very clearly signed as no overnight parking, unfortunately. There are very few pull options for this area.

…is the nice way to say the sites are better fit for tent size rigs than my 22’ travel trailer. I can’t imagine having camping neighbors. There are three sites for trailers (in theory) with 30 amp service, water, and sewer. Bathrooms are decent and newer. They do have showers for those in need. The fee box is attached to the bathroom building. If you’re coming in from out of the area, aim for the water tower and you’ll find it. *TIP* back in from the street as jockeying space is very limited, and fire hydrants pop up out of nowhere. For $20, at the end of a hard day, it’s fine.

Overnight stay during travel on I5. Access is very easy from the freeway. The tradeoff is freeway noise. The campground was exceptionally clean and well maintained. The camp hosts were friendly. Really happy with the stay.

Sites aren’t completely level and sites would feel close to each other IF there were a lot of folks here. However, for a $20 overnight stop with hookups, this location was perfect. The place is clean. After-hours registration is available and easy to understand. The campground is well away from Hwy 97 and associated traffic noise. Wifi was reportedly available but we didn’t use it - full service available with AT&T at least.

If you’re looking for a $25 paved parking spot, this location is for you! The Moon campground guide gives this area a scenic rating of 7. I have absolutely no idea why. There is natural beauty around the area, but none in this campground (aka parking lot) directly. Great access to Samoa Cookhouse (FANTASTIC stop, BTW), and good enough for a relatively expensive overnight stop.

Ya know it’s a bad sign when you notice there’s an drum set out a few campsites down. This campground is trash ridden and noisy, but parts are picturesque and water accessible. While walking away from the campsites we saw egrets, red winged blackbirds, many Canadian geese, and other waterfowl with which I wasn’t familiar. It’s a shame, really. This place could be wonderful.

Very nice sites away from all noise except the wonderful river. Sites near the river are shorter and not as level. The dump station is currently available despite what some other sources may advise.

Pulled in and looked around for a registration booth - couldn’t find one. Found the host site - with a sign indicating to try to call one of two people for assistance. When called the instructions were to find a site and call back. I asked the rate (since it’s not listed anywhere here) and was told $30. As far as I can tell all sites are electric only. Speaking of - our site is 50 amp or 20 amp - no 30 amp outlet. I’ve never seen that before. Be sure to bring your adapters. The bathroom (singular, not plural) for the entire park is dated. The plumbing leaks and facilities needed cleaned. No showers.
