This zoo is absolutely massive. You will spend all day here going through different biospheres and seeing their animals. The sky tram has a wonderful view of not only the zoo but of balboa park too. The price is up there but active military get in free.
A little off the national mall this statue has such wonderful details.
The amount of beauty and care given to this place is amazing. The land that the cemetery was built on has so much history before the first headstone was even placed. Please take the tour you will not regret it. Be respectful as there is almost a funeral a day in this calm place. At the tomb with the guards please do NOT cross the ropes into their area! For a wonderful view across the river into DC be sure to exit the cemetery over at the marine corps memorial and you can see straight across without any buildings in the way.
A gray battlefield if you plan on driving the whole route and have a very detailed map. The road signs do not give any sort of direction and the park rangers are non existent outside the office. If you go during the heat of summer you’ll see a few families milking about in the massive fields but during winter you could have it all to yourself
You can walk around the town for free but you can not enter any of the buildings unless you have a ticket. The ticket and or pass is extremely overpriced. Active military gets one free pass so if you have the ID on you then use it. Otherwise your paying way more than necessary to walk around and visit only a handful of buildings.
So much history in one place. You might need to brush up on your history before visiting since there was no tour or anyone on the grounds outside to answer any history related questions
