If you're near, this is a beautiful scenic drive, even if you decide not to camp.

We scouted the road out in our truck to see if we could pull our rig through (38'), and despite other comments made, we seen no issues and would've pulled our TT in if only we had a couple bars of service.

With that said, the road does become a little narrow at some parts, but there are no crazy sharp curves and the wash-board road is hardly noticeable in a big truck.

Just came here to say that there is NOT a dump station here.

It's a normal rest area for trucks, trailers, and cars.

All sites are on a lake. However, there was some trash around the sites. Nothing a little clean up wont fix. Some glass in the water so be aware. Overall, this was a great spot to boondock. Water, propane, groceries, etc. are all within a 30m drive.

This camp really is a gem. It's easy to get a permit for and easy to get to. We especially loved this place for the amenities: showers, bathrooms, dump station, and access to water. If you have dogs, you can use the fenced horse (pastures?) to let them run around and explore off leash (as long as there are no horses). There is a camp host who will check to make sure you have a permit and will also make sure you're in a site number. You don't have to reserve a site number online, however, you can just find a spot you like that's available. It's not too far from a Walmart and just an hour and a half drive to the ocean! We are already planning another stay at Dupuis.

What to say except 5 Stars. The access road is well maintained, Gate with combo lock, sites are well maintained, water access is close to the sites, dump station at the entrance, and a fair amount of privacy and space.

The camp host, very friendly and helpful, comes around, takes your info, and assigns a site if you didn't book one already. They also allow dogs in the horse pens that are not being occupied. Ours loved it, as you can see in the pictures.

There are tons of trails nearby, along with Lake Okeechobee, which has a solid place to pull right up to the lake away from the road.

This was our first boondocking experience, and it couldn't have been better.... Well, except for the mosquitos, they are a different breed down there lol. If you are considering this site, then proceed to book!

I was a little concerned about coming here at first. We originally scheduled Hammock, which is on the same property. When we arrived we discovered that the grounds are not managed. The site we had originally booked was not accessible for our rig ( 20 ft TT ), so we decided to move to Kowechobe.

It is an open field with labeled sites. Some sites have fire rings, and some do not. There is a cow pasture on one side of the field, along with a couple ponds. There are alligators in the ponds. We decided to stay in the center of the field, and rescheduled online.

There is no water, no dump, no electric. Closest store is 12 minutes down the road. Closest dump is Cedar Creek RV Resort about 22 minutes, and they charge $10 to dump. We filled up with fresh water at an open campsite. Just ask first.

Even with less amenities, we still give it great marks. Our two favorite beaches are within an hour drive ( Bonita dog beach and Vanderbuilt Beach).

We will definitely go back. Site Quality gets 3 bc the field is not maintained. Large outdoor mats work, but a weed eater woud be ideal to clean up the sites. Tall Grass, about 1 foot.

This campground is a cool spot if your goal is to spend most of your time exploring the Everglades or to use it as a launch spot to visit the Keys. We didn't feel it was worth the price. Pros: it's in the Everglades and not far from the Keys. The sites have vegetation surrounding them so it gives you a little bit of privacy and the birds that hang out in them are fun to watch and hear. They also have a dump station and potable water. Cons: no hook ups, the sites are kind of close together and very short (if you have a big rig, make sure you choose a spot that is at least a foot larger than your rig or else you'll be hanging in the road). The showers were never warm for us and the bathrooms were pretty dirty. Someone cleaned them but it was only a matter of time before they were destroyed again... :P Our site had more dirt than grass it seemed, which made for very dirty rugs and floor. They sell firewood for $9, which is nice, but it burned very poorly. And of course the humidity and mosquitos were just awful. It just wasn't our style. We ended up leaving a day early because we were ready to be done with the place lol. I'd also like to add: we visited Flamingo and were initially bummed we couldn't camp there (they have hook ups), but they have 0 Verizon cell service and it's an hour and a half drive to the nearest store. We preferred LPK over Flamingo in the end! Thus, won't be back to either. It was nice to visit the Everglades, though.
