Fantastic surprise on our roadtrip east. Our plan was to just stretch our legs but the Fort is very interactive and informative. Check the website for the guided tour times as the leaders are in period dress and talk about life in the Fort. Hat and water bottle are a good idea as it is on a hot and open plain. Fantastic Park. Plan ahead if you want to participate in a tour as August dates book in advance. Great volunteer gave us guidance on how to enjoy the park without a tour and provided two options based on our time availability. Driving in park takes time so allow at least 4-6 hours to enjoy. Road repair happens in late summer so check the website ahead of time of you are a planner.
