This is definitely something special to see! $25 vehicle fee gives you access for a week but worth it for the day. There is a nice path all around the Devils Tower - this took a little over an hour to walk with some stopping for pictures. There is a well groomed path all the way around - however it is not flat -there is a lot of walking up and down hill so if that is an issue for you - you might want to skip the hike around. Great pictures can be taken from miles away of this amazing place.
This is an incredibly beautiful drive - I highly recommend Needles highway and the wildlife highway - Needles has views for days and highlights some very unusual landscapes. If you have an issue with heights and roads that are winding with sharp turns and steep cliffs with narrow tunnels - you might want to pop a Valium first. Just sayin.
This place was a perfect location for Crazy Horse and the scenic drives like Needles highway and Wildlife Highway. The campground has a great view of Crazy Horse. It was quiet which we liked. We used their laundry facility everything worked great. The guy at the front desk seemed pretty miserable all the time, but aside from that everything here was pretty good!
Just do this. Make it a part of your trip, it’s worth it. This place is a work in progress - maybe one day it will be finished - but regardless, it’s pretty special. The cost to get in was $12 per person and then $4 per person for the bus ride to the base of the hill. You have to take the bus ride if you want to see more of the ‘front’ of his face, rather than just the side. If you stay at the welcome center at the top, you will only see half his face. You can rent a van there, to go to the very top (at his face) for $250. The museum is included in your entry fee and is pretty cool, and it includes a short movie with the history of the place- it’s not long. I recommend watching it. This place is definitely worth the visit. If you are in an RV there is a lot of parking at the top if you want to just drive on after - no steep drive at all with lots of parking. I’d say you’d want to give this place an hour or two. We had to wait 20 minutes for the bus ride - and that took somewhere between 20 and 30 minutes. The bus ride is quite short (less than 10) - they park at the base and allow you to get out to take pictures and they will give some facts and take questions
Rte 240 - if you want to experience the Badlands - you must drive this byway. It is absolutely incredible - something you will never forget.
Driving through here is amazing. Other worldly. Some pretty steep elevations, but no ‘major’ drop off areas to stress on if you don’t like that kinda thing. (Which I don’t) only a few spots got my heart racing. Lots of places to pull over and take pictures, or walk closer to the edge. BEAUTIFUL scenery. Like another planet.
Nice and quiet campground, well maintained. Close to Rushmore. Would stay here again.
A must see. This is truly an impressive sight. $10 per car - and no additional expense to enter. Has a nice gift shop and plenty of parking.
Excellent place to stay. Beautiful lake and big open sky. Quiet and clean. I’d happily stay here again. Lots of geese and corn for days.
This is the perfect campground in my book. The setting is delightful. Big sky, beautiful and quiet setting. The guy who greeted us was one of the nicest guys I’ve come across. Seriously - after kindly greeting us, he hopped in his golf cart and led us to our site -we followed him in and he helped guide the perfect parking spot. He gave us all the info we might need and was on his way. This place is not over run with dogs and kids - our experience anyway - so it was calm, and wonderfully relaxing. I did not catch the gentlemen’s name that greeted us - but he was awesome and a great reflection of awesome customer service. This place took us in with only a few hours notice btw - definitely worth staying at. Lovely spot, I highly recommend.
