We were lucky to find two nights last minute Jan 20-22 because of a cancellation. What a beautiful state park! We traveled with our two golden retrievers and there were so many quiet and scenic paths to explore. Dogs are not allowed on the beach, but that was OK because there were a vast amount of trails up to and around the dune lakes. The park is very clean, staff extremely helpful, and there is a cute little coffee shop/store inside the park. There are no fire rings in the RV section, but we brought our own and enjoyed a nice fire. The park was quiet at night. Our site has full hookups and was level. Add this park to your bucket list!

We arrived after dark and used a code to easily open the gate. Our site was well marked, perfectly raked, and level. Electric and water hookups easily accessible and in perfect working order. Lots of space between sites for privacy. A wonderful and clean fire pit next to picnic table. Enjoyed hearing the coyotes off in the distance. Showers and bathrooms were clean, although the shower temperature was a little too cold for me. The views are spectacular and we felt it was very quiet. Easy to find dumping station with trash and recycling. Very nice visitors center with friendly staff. This was our very first stop after picking up our new LTV Unity RL. Our favorite so far on our trip back to Florida. Highly recommended!

We needed a place for one night on our way to Key West. John Pennekamp State Park was perfectly adequate for what we wanted. Level sites, full hookups, friendly staff, clean (yet outdated) restrooms, and shaded trails for dog walking. Sites are close together buffered with native Florida plants and trees. It’s a small campground, but we found it to be very quiet with a mix of tents and RVs. The no-see-ums are pretty fierce after sunset, so come prepared. Is it the best state park campground in the Keys? Probably not. However, the amount of available outdoor activities nearby is unbelievable.

Great spot with beautiful desert and mountain views. Level gravel area with electric and water off a paved loop road . Dumping station, trash, and recycling available. Was surprised at how quiet it became after dark considering how full it was and how close together the sites were. Lots of trails nearby and just a 10 minute drive to Saguaro National Park. Unfortunately RVs are not allowed on the Bajada scenic loop road. We will definitely come back when we can spend more time exploring the area. As newbies, we were informed by locals to bring led lights for under the engine and chassis next time to prevent pack rats from causing significant damage to the wires.
