This was our last stop after adventuring Pictured Rocks. The walk was easy for the kids and the view was beautiful. It goes up and around but we didn’t do that part. Maybe another time. Worth the stop when you’re in the area.
This place is totally worth the $75/night that we paid!
Pros: cheap, clean, has a pool, central to many local attractions, friendly, has WiFi, has AC/fan/heat, and, again, cheap.
Cons: outdated. Has paneling throughout. Pool is in another building. Grocery stores close at 7 or 8 ON WEEKENDS (weird to me. LoL).
The beds are soft but the linens are clean. I will totally book here again and again. My family of 8 had 2 rooms for $300 for the weekend. We brought a griddle and a crockpot to make our own food in. The kids loved eating and playing cards at the picnic tables in the center.
This was a lot of fun for my family of 7! It’s 8 miles off 2 with half of the travel on a dirt road. Admission to go up in the lighthouse is only $5 for adults and $2 for kids. You must wear regular shoes (no flip flops) to go up and must be over 36” tall. The view is absolutely amazing!! There’s a private beach at the point that’s perfect for swimming. Be prepared to know your way out of here because once you leave, there’s zero service! This place is said to be haunted, so I sat my kids down and told them the story which made their curious minds appreciate it even more. Have fun! It is the only lighthouse still in use on Lake Michigan’s northern shore
