Woodward Reservoir has both day use and overnight camping. The overnight camping is in two areas adjacent to each other. The first one you find is Hackberry Flat. Behind that is the T-island (our favorite).

Hackberry Flat has sites 1-85. The sites in the middle are pull-through sites; the sites on the waterfront are all back-in sites. The T-island is a T-shaped peninsula which can be reached by driving straight through the middle of Hackberry Flat. Where Hackberry Flat ends, there is a dam leading to the T-island. The lay-out of the T-island on Reserve America is incorrect, if you look on Google Maps and switch to satellite view, you get a better idea of the lay out. All sites on the T-island are back-in sites. Most sites on the T have a good view of the water.

Every site has a new concrete pad which is nice and level, but a bit small for a large trailer or RV. Between the concrete pad and the road is always a short driveway made of gravel, so with the concrete and gravel together, most sites have enough room. We would have liked the concrete part 10 feet longer; now our front stabilizers were on the gravel where we would have preferred for them to be on the concrete. Our site (#116 on the T-island) was on the vertical part of the T and it did have a very nice view of the lake and enough space around it. On the horizontal part of the T, the right half is very crowded with sites too close together to be comfortable. The left end is spaced a lot better. Our favorite sites on the T are #87-89. They have the best view of the lake and a lot of space around them. The best spot on Hackberry Flat is #56. Site #90 is especially for people with a handicapped permit. All sites have a picknick table and a fire pit, but sometimes these are behind the concrete pad instead of next to it.

The facilities include toilets only - I have not seen a shower but I have not been in all the buildings. They are well maintained and clean.

The folks at the entrance were friendly and helpful.

The location on the reservoir is very nice. Hackberry Flat sites, especially the ones at the beginning and to the left, have some noise from the road. On T-island it is very quiet. The town of Oakdale is 10 minutes away and has basic services. Modesto is 35-40 minutes away and has everything you might possibly need.

We liked this campground because it has a number of sites with full hookups and at the same time it has a pleasant, laid-back, close-to-nature feel to it. The sites are gravel and reasonably level, there are a few trees between the sites, there is a lot of green around the loops and it is relatively small. The fact that it is small means that there are not a whole lot of amenities and it is pretty basic. Which is fine by us, the entertainment for us is in the surrounding area (Napa, you know) and the campground is just for sleeping. And it is a great relaxing place to sleep. The only challenge we had was that the sewer was way too close to the front of our back-in site. There was no way we could reach it with the tubes that we had. Our neighbor had a similar problem, so we solved it by swapping sewer connections.
The campground is just outside Napa. Which is great because it is nice and quiet and at the same time only 15 minutes from downtown Napa. The staff is friendly and welcoming. We will certainly be back.

Cathedral Palms is a nice campground, conveniently located in the Palm Springs area. The sites are level, with full hookups and nicely spaced. The staff is friendly and helpful. The only drawback is that it is in the flight path of Palm Springs Airport. It is not a very busy airport, but we had airplanes passing over us every day, during daytime and early evening. Never during the night.

We really love this place. We are used to roughly two kinds of campgrounds: those having a great nature feel to them, but no hookups, and those that have full hookups but look more like a giant parking lot. This campground has a number of sites with full hookups and it is very lush and green and well laid out. The sites are far enough apart for privacy and there is a lot of shade.

It is not far from San Francisco and the BART is nearby. A few smaller cities are very close. Still you have no idea that you are anywhere near a city when you are on the campground. The only drawback is the gate that closes at 10PM. The gate is so far from the actual campground that parking outside and walking to your campsite is no option.

Access is by a long and winding road. The roads on the campground itself are a bit narrow and have tight curves and go up and down quite steeply. We tow a 34' Airstream and we had to very carefully navigate a few big trees to get the trailer into our site, but we were very happy with our spot. And those same trees provided nice shade, so we did not complain :-)

We were there during the week, so we did not experience any noise from the shooting range.

We would definitely camp here again.

Even though it is just a short drive from I5, this is a very nice and quiet campground. Sites are nicely laid out with a lot of space between them. The surroundings are beautiful and we wished we could have stayed here longer. The camp host was very friendly. It looks as if there used to be hookups, but they are not used any more. So it is dry camping only. There is a dump station near the entrance. We had a pull through site (#14) and it took some careful manouvering to get our 34' trailer in there, but it worked and it was level enough so that we did not need any blocks.

Las Vegas RV Resort is one of those campgrounds that look like a giant parking lot. If you want to be out in nature and enjoy the silence, you have come to the wrong place. But it is conveniently located, wel layed out, and reasonably priced. The facilities are spotless and the staff is very friendly and provides great service. We use this campground as a starting point for our trips and we have stayed here for one or two nights several times

T-mobile cell phone service is very good, .4 bars out of 5. The wifi provided by the park is not fast, but it works (and that is better than in many other locations).
