What's Around the Next Bend

Great location off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Access to hiking right from the campground but sites are not very desirable. Many were just a parking space in which your ‘site’ with picnic table and fire ring were up or down a hill. More suitable for tents imo. We originally had reservations for T011 but requested (and granted) a move to another site. We have a truck camper and wanted a site that was set up better for this.

Really nice sites, site 16 was directly across from the river which made for pleasant background sounds. Lots of great hiking trails right from the campground.

For beauty and location, cannot recommend enough. Gorgeous views, beautiful hikes, simply stunning.

Just a note, we had 3 couples traveling together with AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. There was zero cell reception. You had to travel ~3 miles south (to Seal Caves) to get reception. Perfect for a weekend get-away, not so great if you are on a long drive extended trip and need internet

Quick note: AT&T coverage is only 1-2 bars here. This mattered to us, not sure who was able to get 3 bars (as shown in Campendium) but without a booster, the entire area is 1-2 bars for AT&T

Moved up to Ocala from south FL trying to get away from Eta, but weather forced us to leave after 1 day

Campground review: Check in was easy - campground was very nice and quiet (road noise as mentioned, but not too loud). I have mountain biked here before so I was really looking forward to getting out on the bike. WIll definitely be back,

this campground does everything right. Beautiful well spaced sites. Great bike trails with easy access to CCRT. We were in self-contained unit and therefore did not use the facilities.

Pros: very friendly staff. We originally had site 5, but it was small and closer to the road, so the road noise was loud. We asked to move and we were able to switch to site 9 which was a bit bigger and had less road noise. Also had a few packages to get and it was no problem.

Cons: Note to all; if you check Google maps satellite, if there are windmills it means it will be very windy. Additionally, although many have stated the WiFi is great, but we found it slow and after ~5pm (when people arrived back for the evening) it was almost unusable. With no other options, and spotty cell phone coverage, it made for challenging online access.

We would stay here again, but go in with the right expectations
