Thankfully it was a cool but sunny day. We stayed at the mine ALL day long and had a great time searching. We didnt come home with any diamonds but a handful of Jasper, quartz, calcite, and volcanic tuff. It was exciting just to find something!!
We chose to add to our trip by taking the river trail on the way out. It was a decent walk and worth the stop.
While we didnt stay overnight, we did spend the entire day at Lake Catherine. The trails do get very busy mid morning to mid afternoon, but are still a beautiful way to get steps in and see some great views of nature at its best. The trails are also pet friendly as you will see many of them on the trails and at the waterfall.
After hiking, we rented a pedal boat to experience the lake; for safety reasons we couldnt leave the bay but it was still a great time with the exception of not catching any fish lol.
BEAUTIFUL!! This was a great place to get our daily steps in. The flowers were in bloom, the koi fish pond was enjoyable, and we even were able to experience the peacock in action trying to attract the peahen. The staff was also very informative and friendly!
Awesome views on a beautiful day! Very windy......wouldnt advise wearing a dress on this stop. Decent gift shop on the ground floor, worth the drive.
This was a great stay. There is plenty of spots for campers, tent camping, or yurt/cabin glamping. We chose to stay in a tent and had a wonderful experience. There is a pool, splash pad, and playground for the kids along with the opportunity to zip line for extra at the same facility. There is a trail you can walk to experience wildlife, a boat launch to enjoy the water, and even a disc golf course for those looking for a new experience.
We stayed in one of the cabins along the lake. They were basic but enough for a good stay. There is a trail just a walk away from the visitors center that is a chance to get some steps in, but not challenging at all. The pool there looks like fun but wasnt open at the time of our stay.
Very unique stop! Enjoyed viewing and reading up on the history this boat and museum had to offer.
Beautiful view of downtown from 3rd base line!! Went to a ballgame with fireworks over the river and it made it even more fantastic!
Our son was amazed that we were driving through a mountain AND when we emerged from the other side.... we loved the double decker bridge and view. Definitely worth it to drive through both ways!
