We camped here on our way through the state. Very pleased with the spacious and private sites. We had a small stream running behind our site that our kids loved exploring. The little pond is plenty big enough for a small swimming beach and lots of room for kayaks and row boats. We put our paddle board in and had a great loop around the pond. There are also a few trails nearby- most are quite hilly due to the terrain. There are also primarily walk in sites along the back side of the pond that looked fantastic. Lots of trees everywhere for hammocks.

The sites are large and many have shade. The bathrooms are newly built and extremely nice and clean, however there were no soap dispensers not soap. I feel strongly that campground bathrooms need to have soap, but especially during the summer of 2020 they should have soap or hand sanitizer. Coin operated showers were clean and well designed. The lake is nice but highly used (not good water for paddleboarding due to speedboats- even at sunrise and sunset). We couldn’t swim due to high levels of blue and green algae.
The park also charges a parking fee of $11 per day. I paid $28 a night for my dry campsite plus another $11 a day to park my rv on my campsite that I already paid for. It was frustrating when family came to hang out and had to pay too.
The many paths in the park are nice and well maintained but little shade on most of them.
I’d have enjoyed it more if the parking fee was less and they had soap in the bathroom.

We loved our stay here. The lake was a short walk down a well maintained gravel trail. The campground host, Trudy, was friendly, kind, and always smiling. We got the last site available on a Wednesday at 9:30am - over 75% of the sites are reservation only at recreation.gov. We loved the lake, cooler temps, and views of the mountains.
The trail along the lake was a lot of fun to run and I saw many mountain bikers as well. Paddleboarding in the evening was amazing- totally calm waters reflecting the mountains!
Only down side was there is no water available at the campgrounds due to a water shortage.

Wooded area with semi private sites. Bathrooms were very clean. About a mile bike ride or drive to private showers ($2 for 4 minutes). The free park shuttle bus came right to the campground- we used the bus system quite a bit to get around the island. We highly recommend the bus system and blackwoods campground!

Camped here in our 27' RV. Enjoyed the bike paths and time on the nearby beach. We were amazed at how quiet the campground was at night- probably due to alcohol being prohibited. It is a bit crowded and very little shade but each site has its own small tree. Most sites had electric and water hook up. We needed a long hose to reach the water spigot for our site. Great for a beach campground.
