We’ve been to many KOA campgrounds over the years. Some great, some I’ll never go back to. Hogback Lake definitely ranks at the top of the list. The owners take excellent care of the property and you can tell they’re continually reinvesting in maintenance and upgrades. They have a new pool and lazy river which is fantastic. There’s an inflatable obstacle course on the lake. They have docks, pontoon rentals and a launch if you wish to bring your own boat. Someone mentioned in a previous review that it’s not big rig friendly. We did not find that to be the case. There were numerous class A units staying in the spacious pull through sites. The only drawback is the traffic noise if you’re staying in any of the sites near the front of the park. I definitely recommend this campground if you’re looking for a place to stay in the Angola area.

This is a great little stop over campground for anyone making a trip across the state. We had planned to stop in Mitchell and stay at the Walmart on our way to Badlands, but saw Dakota and decided to give it a try. Full hookup sites, swimming pool and a small arcade for the kids. Definitely recommend this campground if you’re looking for a quick overnighter.
