The campsites are really nice with covered picnic tables and fresh gravel, many with lake views. The cedars and bushes make them very private. I think they may have widened the roads but it’s still probably not big-rig friendly except for a site or two. The signage is almost non-existent so you could get stuck in some places, and the “map” they give out is not very helpful. It’s a drone photo with numbers approximating the site locations.
We were enjoying our site with great internet (Verizon) and thought we would stay an extra day but changed our minds when they wanted to charge another $24 entry fee ($12/person) plus the $30 campsite fee. Not worth it.
Most notably, the place is full of litter! Some sites are worse than others. There are 2 large cans in every site so it’s a wonder that there is so much trash everywhere. Very disappointing.
On the other hand, the fishing dock and boat ramp are really nice. The water is low but crystal clear. It’s a beautiful lake and has the potential to be a real gem of a park. I hope they figure it out and fix the fee structure!
Site 7 is a long back-in pad that would hold a truck and 30+ ft trailer. Site 6 is a spacious pull-through.

An all-time favorite place! Kayaking, hiking, fishing, and spectacular sunsets over Frenchman's Bay. We collected mussels on the shore for dinner, picked apples all over the park, and bought fresh lobsters nearby several times. Close to Acadia and Bar Harbor. Great signal on Verizon. Our site wasn't very trailer friendly and it was hard to level up but worth the trouble for the incredible views. The showers were okay...a bit dingey looking but warm water and plenty to choose from. We heard the lobster boats early in the morning but it wasn't bothersome. Really nice staff at this park!

If you need solar, this isn’t a good option. Also, it’s near the water and has nice trails but it’s not easy to get down to the water. Our site was large but for the price, with no services, we felt it wasn’t worth it.

We thought this would be a good spot to hide out from holiday weekend campers. It’s small and had a nice creek and big trees. Sites were small and mostly occupied by homeless and druggies. While we were out scouting for another site because of the screaming we had endured for 2 days, someone walked around our Airstream and bashed it with a stick or crow bar leaving dents all over it.
Park ranger said they plan to close it on 8/31/21 for remodeling. Good!! Hopefully they will patrol it better or get a camp host.

We almost didn’t go after reading previous review. So we checked it out first without our trailer. The roads have been graded and graveled. It’s a 10 mile drive but it’s wide and pretty smooth all the way with some washboard. No problem pulling our 25’ Airstream up. Campsites are paved, fairly big and private, and super nice. It’s dry camping with 4 or 5 clean and well maintained vault toilets. New growth forest gives privacy, with plenty of bigger trees for shade and hanging hammocks.
The lake was beautiful…great for paddling and swimming. Only drawback is heavy day-use on weekends and holiday (we were there over the 4th of July). A lot of people drove through the campground before leaving. Saw several moose and a couple of rare species of ducks/birds.
Occasionally we had one bar of Verizon at campsite but we drove about a mile back down to get strong 2 bars 4G.

After boondocking for a week this place felt like Disneyland. Kind of surreal! Very clean place with level sites. The lake is full of birds of all kinds which were the only noisy thing. Baths are dated but nice and clean. 5G WiFi was good enough to stream movies and work on websites.

We ended up staying longer because it was such a nice place to camp. Good hiking. We discovered a big beaver pond in the woods behind our campsite. More than half of the campground was being updated. Our site had fresh gravel and a nice lawn. It was a big site but we can't remember the number on the backside of the B loop. Service was strong with WeBoost.
