It’s a pretty steep and, depending on season/weather can be a very muddy little hike. It is worth it once you get to the arch at the top. It’s a nice day or evening hike , doesn’t take too long, and Is conveniently located between steinaker and red fleet reservoirs just north of vernal in the uintah basin. Turnoff is on your left coming north on hwy 191 from vernal.
Red fleet reservoir is beautiful esp during the sunset when the ship like rock formations glow red. They have restrooms and RV & tent camping. You can even stay in the teepee they have, which sleeps several. This is a nice camp/rec area near the water and ancient dinosaur tracks you can swim to or hike up to from then back side of the lake if you don’t want to park and pay. It’s a really easy hike. Just take the next right after the main red fleet turnoff. Watch for some signage and a small fence on the right a little ways down the road and park there to hike up the backside with the tracks. Careful no high cliff diving into the lake allowed anymore.
