A small park near the highway with picnic tables. No falls but lots of history.
The person behind the desk was drunk. They over charged for the room and I had to spend quite some time on the phone with my travel agent to work it out. We were driving across country and just needed a good night sleep. And good thing we were passing through. The electricity to the fridge and microwave was the strangest configuration that I have ever seen. We were on the bottom floor and around 2 am. The people above us had a small person tap dancing on the floor.i complained, didn’t change anything. So the next day the one thing we needed- a good night sleep didn’t happen. So we headed off on our roAd trip exhausted. I was offer a discount on a hotel room if I stayed some other night but I would never stay here again. On my trip from Washington state to Washington DC we stayed in lots of different types of non-name brand hotels and this one is the most memorable for being the worst.
I had originally thought it would be a pretty primitive stay cause, well it is a train. I stayed here when it was relatively cool outside. The did have a small heater and it is a train car. But the bed was comfortable and if you are a train fan this is fun. The breakfast in the main bunkhouse was a wonderful home made meal. The cars are relatively near an old track that has been made into. Bike trail that includes a depot. The stay was quirky and. Ute.
What a wonderful gem to find! The murals are huge and poignant. Some are singles and some are in groupings.
Parking was an issue. We ended up parking at a nearby park and walking. The place was mobbed with people. It was iconic and the people watching was hilarious. Selfie sticks, unattended kids and dogs, illiterate guests ignoring signs and not a ranger in site. Good times
Better than Starbucks. They roast their own. The coffee with coconut is brilliant and Lorelei the dog is adorable.
