We have been coming here for years and it has improved each time. Victor and Lillie are great hosts. The new restaurant is great, (hours hit or miss but they can usually accommodate if you ask), bike rentals, the Malecon is a short walk and the dunes out the main entrance.

Head out on easter for a real Mexican holiday experience or many other quiet times of the year for solitude. The beach is great and they now have cabanas and houses on site to rent.

Viva Baja!

We were lucky enough to stay here two days before the fire started and got to put my five-year-old and Wife on the train heading to Durango the next day. It was a quick walk to the animus River and also to watch the train go by. There were some old restored cattle cars that were neat to check out. We brought bicycles and rode to town each day to eat and just play at the city park and general shopping. Super friendly hosts, when she told me the Wi-Fi password we had an instant connection.

We just have a 23 foot motorhome and should’ve looked at the sites first. There were two available on the creek but we chose one across the small dirt road. The creek was nice to have but we didn’t really check any of the amenities as it was just stop over on our way home.

Nice clean place we would stay there again.

We arrived on a sat and stayed until monday on our way to Yosemite in the beginning of June. The spot was really nice, seasonal employees were learning the POS systems at the park and restaurants so a bit slow but they were all very positive. There were maybe 50+ hike in spots right near us all empty and 3 big airstream show up and camp spots across the street. Short walk then across the highway to get to the lake that was very enjoyable.

The lower spots were pretty crowded, fires, and kids, dog, and some Bro chaos but entertaining. We did have a dog and kid too, just not as rambunctious as some of the others so the upper spots were perfect.

Yes, we would return for an upper spot if we get that way again!

We pulled in shortly before sunset on the Thursday before memorial day weekend. The forms in the box to fill out and pay were not in there so we drove out to the lake and just camped in a primitive site. The site met our needs for a quick overnight stay, the only knock on the campground was the early morning Flying of parachutes with the big motors on their back started buzzing pretty early in the morning. It looks like it could get pretty hectic the trailers next to us were empty Alf looked like they were just saving spaces for the holiday weekend

We stayed 2 days in the lower Quail loop and 1 night on the upper loop. It was 95 out so the power was great. we rode bikes to the fishing Lagoons and walked down to the Verde. Staff nice and helpful, clean, and everything was in good shape. Pay attention to the height warnings, we had to thread between branches in out 10' high MH.

We returned a few weeks later, only 1 hour from our house so an easy escape.

Great location on what is currently a pretty good size river, usually a creek I believe. Helpful staff, great facilities, and just about two or 3 miles outside a really cool town… The pizza place is amazing right on the little downtown strip

If we are passing through this way again, we’re going to stop there for sure.

The park is great, the setting in the trees near the river are great, the spaces are great, some had water but the bugs were bad. The Cemetery was sobering, the mother buried 4 of her 6 kids under the age of 3?? I think? (the sign is a bit more accurate). Granted I live bug free except a few weeks in the late summer and there was an hour or so after sunset that was better but the non biting bugs were rough, in your mouth, cocktails, and dinner. The state worker stated face nets and long sleeves are the only chance. Once out of the river valley it was much better.

The only other issue was as the trailers showed up they were running their neighbor haters from walmart in the 3 nearest campsites. At 9pm I asked one "camper" how late he was going to run it and he stated they were watching DVD's. His wife had him shut it down right after. Another fired up at 0700 but off after 10 min, I'm guessing coffee, I can respect that but our percolator works great too. All three running when we left at 0900.

Anyhow, RVing in Merica! I guess if you have good batteries and a bit of solar it doesn't help in parks. If not for the Bugs we would go back but am willing to try other spots.

We had dinner in Salida and drove out to this campground. They host were incredibly nice and helpful always checking if we had any needs. We chose an electric only site and backed in right next to the creek, this was a great situation as we have a five-year-old and he was able to play by the water and with the kids across the creek in the tent spaces. Nice views and a good flat site, as we left and drove west we did see the next campground that we may try next time but have no complaints about this visit.

Park in your spot and bring bikes. Great trip for myself the wife and our 6yo. Most campers were respectful, there are 3 times for generators and if you see a rental RV it is a pretty safe bet it will be running. We saw a bear, a few deer, a fox, snakes, and many squirrels and chipmunks. Water running all around the camp and half dome view from the site.

The crowds are huge but they do a great job managing the numbers. The dump station was odd, potable water station then dump at the next stop. The ranger was super cool with out kid and gave him a Jr Ranger sticker and even asked about it the next day.
