Went on a National parks roadtrip and loved it! No clue about the bathrooms. Note that there is a nudist beach far down if you're going and do/don't want to be part of that.

We tent camped there for 3 nights in March 2022 and thought it was great! We saw the sunrise on the beach, showers were hot, etc. We definitely got bit by bugs, but you’re in the Everglades so it is to be expected. It is about as far a way as you can drive from the park entrance—took us 45 min.
